I ordered a Research Chemical a few days ago and it's supposed to arrive this Friday. The problem is that being far too excited I did the very stupid mistake of reading an old version of the law. Now I find out that most RCs are banned here, because of a bunch of Russians who opened up an RC shop in our capital's center (Seriously, FUCK Russians! They ruin everything!).
What can I do to obtain the package without persecution. Is it possible to deny that you knew what was in the package? Would that make any difference? The site said they package the RCs discretely . Is there any chance someone would open it up? The site is from the EU and my country is too, so I guess there isn't a very big chance that problems will arise. In case they do, what should I do?

I was so happy that I could order anything I wanted, but no - someone has to make a shop with a huge sign "GET HIGH LEGALLY" in the center of fucking Sofia. It really depends on how much it is, too. If it's obviously an amount that's for personal use vs much more, that'll make a difference on how they treat it, IF they find it.

Whether someone opens it up or not, really depends on how discreetly packaged it is, and whether there's reason for suspicion.
Either way, if the package is already in the mail, there's not much you can do, is there? I don't think that if you get in trouble there is anything specific you can do or not, just hope that your age, that maybe they aren't really bad real drugs for realness (?), that it's just a small amount, that it's a first offence, etc etc makes you able to get away with it with just a slap on the wrist, I dunno. I could see that happening in the Netherlands. But in Bulgaria? No fucking idea.

None of the people I know that did it ended up hooked. If you're going to do a drug, at least do one where you know what you're getting into. Go drink a couple of pints, smoke a j, maybe eat some fungus that grew on cow shit, which we've known about and studied in various ways for, oh I don't know, essentially all of human history. If you're going to do a relatively new drug, at least make sure that it has been around longer than you have, so you have better info on long term effects.
Medical research is slow for a reason. You need to see the long term effects of something on a human. This might take up to 30 years of research to see all of the side effects, some of which can be very serious and delayed. If you want to be an epidemiology statistic, at least do science a favor and enroll in a study that will track your health and cognitive abilities for the next 20 years.

I can assure you the thing at the police station was very real. This shit is hitting Maine hard and I've been on top of it from the beginning. In many cases they have to give patients amounts of sedatives that would bring down an elephant. Look, I'm not interested in another PD.com drug debate. On a related note, did you know that alcoholism wasn't a big problem until we learned to distill that shit on a widespread and inexpensive basis? Suddenly we went from swilling weak homebrews morning, noon and night to swilling hard liquor morning, noon and night. Our brains basically evolved to find alcohol pleasurable, and in mild doses, it is very pleasurable indeed. Suddenly, though, our poor little monkey brains were getting saturated with concentrations tens of times stronger than we were adapted for, and for a time drunkenness was a plague, leading to Prohibition (which never made sense to me until I started watching this documentary... now it makes perfect sense, even though it was an unsuccessful reaction to a real and severe problem).
We seem to be gradually adapting to the availability of strong alcohol, fortunately. Or unfortunately; I don't know.

The article about research chemicals may be correct, but it's about a huge variety of substances with different effects, all marketed ass bath salts. However, Dalek has not ordered Bath Salts, he has ordered Ethcathinone. While Ethcathinone has been marketed as bath salts, not all bath salts are Ethcathinone.
Research Chemicals is an incredibly general term, which includes not only the things marketed as Bath Salts (which, as far as I can tell, have speed-like effects), but also completely different stuff, like 2C-B.
I think the term research chemical doesn't say much about the substance, it says more about the scientific understanding of the substance, the public understanding (and knowledge) of the substance, and/or the distribution system of the substance.

Hey I'm not in disagreement that these things are dangerous or anything, but once again, you're undermining your own position by arguing something that does not make sense, linking to a PDF that doesn't actually tell you anything. Not even what chemicals they're made of.

The point is, new ones are being "designed" all the time, so by definition you don't know how dangerous they are.
The list of dangerous side-effects in that PDF must be a selection of dangerous side effects from several of these chemicals, or maybe one specific, but as you don't know whether this PDF is talking about Ethcathinone or not (because they don't mention any specifics at all), there's no way to tell whether they are applicable to what Dalekk ordered or not.

I actually have a resource that is very thorough with chemical information that would be very handy to someone who wanted to make these things. (I'm sure Faust will appreciate me NOT linking to this information)
And you and Dalekk and others are free to not believe me, but I have sat through a few (very thorough and detailed) briefings now and I can say with pretty solid confidence that the drug that Dalekk is talking about falls into the category of "bath salts" which have the health effects listed in the PDF. And one of the other ways "bath salts" have been marketed in the U.S. and abroad is as "Research Chemicals". They will typically get around FDA and other regulation by putting something like "not for human consumption" on the package even though it is very obvious they are intended for human consumption.

So far they seem to be the drug of choice of men between the ages of 20 and 40. For whatever reason it really hasn't hit the youth population yet. (at least not in the States)
Also, it seems to be popping up in very distinct pockets. For example in Maine there are really only three or four population areas where it has become a big problem and Portland isn't one of them. It isn't following the typical traffic growth pattern other drugs follow. Basically it seems to be spreading socially. Someone gets the stuff shares it with friends, and it grows from there.

If you google "bath salts drug" or "research chemicals drug" you get enough threads of information to keep you busy for hours, including lots of specific chemical names which you can follow to a multiplicity of firsthand accounts about the effects of various of these chemicals on druggie info-sharing forums.
There are a lot of things I have, and will, put into my body. None of the RC's I've read about so far fall into that category. Some of them (albeit, probably not the popular and cheap ones) are probably pretty benign, and in 30 years when we know that for sure maybe I'll try them. In the meantime, no fucking way. I value my body and my brain far too much to use it for that kind of "research".

Yes it's counter-intuitive and paradoxical, but many of them actually carry "suicidal thoughts" or "increased risk of suicide" as a side effect.
Not that anybody would want to take an SSRI recreatively, anyway, because happy serotonine feelings are the long term effect (weeks), and the short-term is just nausea or heart arrythmia (in stupid high doses).

While I don't often find myself agreeing with RWHN on the "DRUGS R GOOD/BAD" topic, I tend to agree on the nature of "bath salts", primarily because of the "unknown" factor which doesn't combine well with the human nature of "cram as much of some substance in to my body as possible, consequences be damned". Kid in my apt. complex was found dead in the bathroom bleeding out of various orifices after a night of indulging - granted I believe klonopin and some opiates were also thrown in the mix. But, I've been hearing lots of bad shit about it as well.
Of course, had to check it out to see what the fuss was about - was sold at a nearby convenience/beer store behind the counter along with Salvia, K-2 amanita muscara, etc. Yea, in small doses, taken orally, it was all well and good fun. But it dehydrates the shit out of you, goes in waves so you THINK you need to take more and then can leave you with the "suicide Tuesday" feeling the next day or so. While we didn't have any terrible effects - maybe a headache and some moodiness - I can see it being very addictive and going really stupid really fast. If you're looking for that kind of high, I'd say stick with something known. At a lot of the music festivals going on this summer they were being sold and marketed as other substances which, yea if you're buying drugs off of other people you're at risk already but if you think you're buying X or Y, but it's really Z, the effects, dosage, etc. can lead to some horrible stuff, especially if it's also cut with Q,W and #.
All I'd say is be careful and there are better ways of spending your money.

I know RWHN mentioned it was already banned in a few states and I think I heard they were trying to do it at a national level (could be mistaken, might have just been around here too). Opinions on the legality of drugs aside, I'm not really weeping over this going away either. I was sadder about them banning and subsequently changing 4loko.
They are kinda-sorta banned nationally. That is, the DEA has used its emergency scheduling authority to control the active chemicals in bath salts. This will last for a year while further research is conducted. I think it's pretty likely they will be permanently banned by that time.

We seem to be gradually adapting to the availability of strong alcohol, fortunately. Or unfortunately; I don't know.

You can say "I heard drugs are very addictive - people have to be physically restrained for treatment" and you would be right if you were talking about heroin, but wrong about LSD for example. RCs are not all the same chemical. It's a bunch of different drugs and the only thing they have in common is that they're pretty recent.

Actually I've got nothing to do with the whole order, except for giving a part of the cash. The order was made from another guy's PC and I know for sure that I won't get into any trouble. My only concern is keeping the other guys away from trouble, but I told them all of my concerns and they said they ARE going to retrieve the package. Well, now I can just hope for Bulgarian borders to be as loose as everyone knows they are

Thanks. I didn't want to word it that strongly because Khara never seems to take criticism very well. So I thought I'd just politely point out things might be a bit more complex than that, since she already said she "wasn't paying enough attention", I thought it'd be nice to give her a heads up about his situation. Guess not.

Yeah, I know! A friend of mine promised to take me shroom hunting with her. Today it's raining for the first time in a few weeks, so I expect them shrooms to start growing very soon. Picking them in the wild is the only good way of obtaining them, though. Dealers sell them at 15 leva a gram and they sell the gram as a one person dose, because everyone here is scared of an actual psychedelic experience and just wants to get a stoned feeling. Psys don't really have a market here, but hopefully I'll be going to the forest pretty soon :lol:
