Fucking Timelords :argh!:
I remember seeing this on yahoo news yesterday

Where it contained this quote:
Quote"These networks need to be synchronised to the millisecond," Arias said.
"We are starting to have parallel definitions of time. Imagine a world where there were two or three definitions of a kilogram."
No problem.

Fixed. Quit making Americans look ignorant.
Quote"Without leap seconds we will lose contact with the reality of Earth's rotation. Eventually our midnight would happen at noon."
:lulz:
Maybe they could use rockets to keep the earth rotating properly?

No, we must punish the moon for slacking on the job.

Peter Whibberley, senior research scientist in time and frequency at the National Physical Laboratory, in Teddington, said: "When the UK government did a survey of government agencies, they couldn't find anyone who was concerned with leap seconds. So we don't see the evidence presented for the problems caused by leap seconds as being all that serious."
"I mean, the department of motor vehicles didn't even know what a leap second was! Clearly, they're not a problem."

Are you sure it isn't hectares? I'm pretty sure it's hectares.
Only six months notice of when a leap second would occur? Only SIX MONTHS??
How can you expect anyone to work to such a tight schedule as that?

Also- Imagine a world in which two clocks in your house are slightly out of synch with each other by, let's say, a second. It would be utter chaos!
Well, that got rid of leap microseconds last year, and look what havoc that caused. Neutrinos travelling faster than the speed of light? Not in my universe.
