How will this add to the current clusterfuck with US/Iran/Afghanistan/Syria?
Not much, except remind people that NATO is pretty much involved in an arc of violence from the Hindu Kush all the way to the shores of Tripoli.
Oh. Ok. Thought there might be escalations.
Escalations beyond Pakistan supporting the Taliban and Haqqani insurgents?
Aw, but the ISI are just a buncha goodfellas...

The best part is, there is no strategic rationale for a border attack at all. Pakistan aren't going to seal their side, so why bother? You might as well wait until they're 10 miles further into Afghan territory and drop a daisy-cutter on them. Same result, minus the dead Pakistani soldiers and complicated international incidents.
