Korn have released a dubstep album.
:asplode:
It's fucking vile. I heard it yesterday.

Why do you say shit like that? It's not even 10 AM here.

I think it's admirable that a band so entrenched in one particular genre are brave enough to completely throw caution to the wind, and reinvent themselves like this. But like Bowie and Tin Machine, I bet the Album is actually a pile of steaming shite. But then it's not like they need the money or anything, is it?
Whaaaaaat is happening?
I have to leave this thread now.
I just heard it. It sounds identical to every Korn song ever except the part where they atonally bash their faces on an over-distorted guitar are replaced by modulated bass.

I found out before my first coffee. It was 8am and I immediately started looking at the special offers on the Whiskey Exchange instead.
I found out last night when my nu-metal obsessed friend who is perpetually stuck in 1999 asked me about industrial music and I offered him a few tracks.
After he continuously knocked Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy, and KMFDM, and told me that anything from NIN's "Pretty Hate Machine" was garbage, he sent me the fucking KornStep shit asking if it was similar, since it constituted a fusion of rock and electronic.
They need to invent that "strangle through the internet" shortcut key, soonish.
In all fairness, he was spot-on about Pretty Hate Machine. :lulz:
Speaking of dubstep-related horrors....
I just found out that one of my favorite bands, Pendulum, is also Knife Party, one of the most horrible bands to ever grace the planet.

Well, yeah, but I figured I'd subject him to Reznor's earlier stuff, but when he said that the only thing he liked about NIN was "Closer", I gave up.
Oh, and then he sent me that Christian Rock band that the old guitarist from Korn is in now, Brian "Head" Welch, and I was like..."Wut." So I countered with VNV Nation, which he actually liked, but he didn't like Covenant. :?
Then he told me that Five Finger Death Punch was his new favorite band, and I closed the IM and went to sleep.
Once upon a time, this guy introduced me to Ra, which is awesome...I have no idea how or why he regressed.

Heard it last week (well some parts of it), and I have to disagree.
It's a lot more like Linkin' Park meets the boring parts of SOAD meets modulated dubstep bass.
In the sense that, even the "singing" is not like Korn. I checked some tracks of them on Youtube to make sure that I remember correctly.
The "thing" about Korn that I remember that sorta defined them was some particular kind of bass guitar bits (that are replaced by dubsteb bass now) and and a style of singing that sounds a lot like pathetic desperate pained groaning and panting (kinda similar to the Deftones). I couldn't hear
any of that sort of thing, rather it was regular nu-metal vocals like Linkin' Park.
Not that I expected to be impressed, but it wasn't even Korn.

Why?? "Playing good music sucks, so let's do something else now?"
I - for one - shall not rest, until Mick Jagger autotunes Let It Bleed.
Meh, never liked Korn or any of the other nu-metal bands so not a really big deal. They're just making more music I will never listen to.
But, if you are in the market for a good metal album, Moonsorrow's Varjoina Kuljemme Kuolleiden Maassa is the way to go.

I just googled "knife party". It took me to a dubstep song where Microsoft Sam was singing the lyrics. :lulz:

It's inexplicable to me too. I guess I'm just glad they decided to release that crap under a completely different name rather than surprising me with it on a Pendulum album.
