Remind me again why America is an ally of those jackasses in Tel Aviv?

QuoteAgents with Israel's Mossad agency posed as American CIA agents in operations to recruit members of the Pakistani militant group Jundallah, a report in Foreign Policy magazine said Friday.
Using American dollars and US passports, the agents passed themselves off as members of the Central Intelligence Agency in the operations, notably in London, according to memos from 2007 and 2008, said the report.
Jundallah (Soldiers of God) says it is fighting for the interests of the southeastern province's large ethnic Baluch community, whose members, unlike most Iranians, mainly follow the Sunni branch of Islam.
The Baluch straddle the border with neighboring Pakistan and Afghanistan and Jundallah militants have taken advantage of the unrest in the region to find safe haven in the border region.
In July it claimed responsibility for attacking the Grand Mosque in the provincial capital Zahedan, reportedly targeting members of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards Corps, killing 28 people.
"It's amazing what the Israelis thought they could get away with," a US intelligence officer told Foreign Policy.
"Their recruitment activities were nearly in the open. They apparently didn't give a damn what we thought," said the official.
I mean, I can understand the Israelis posing as Americans. It shows Mossad isn't quite as brain-dead as some of us expected. (Some may recall that British IDs were used for a hit by suspected Mossad assassins in Dubai in 2010).
However, I suspect the official American response to this will be a pose of studied indifference, which certainly would not be the case if, say, Russia, or Iran, had their agents pretend to be American spies. And the CIA and State will howl, but Congress will shrug its shoulders and go "you hate Jews or something?"
Why?
Because Israelis are - in many Americans' eyes - White people in a sea of Brown.
That's really all there is to it.

sad, but true. Although I personally don't trust them. "Hi I am ex-Israeli military, would you like to try our Dead Sea botanical spa stuff?" Wait...wut?

^ ^ ^ Yep. The offended tone rightwing radio hosts use when talking about the Israel-Palestine conflict sounds more or less like the same one they use when they shriek about Mexicans taking over America.
Still, it's a testament to modern propaganda that Americans can be made to feel that fiercely protective and nationalistic of a country that is willing to blame them for its covert actions.
That it is. I don't really understand what we get out of it, except maybe the righties get the "THE END IS NEAR!" crowd in their voting base.

I honestly think this is the primary motivator. Out of all the pro-Israel comments I've heard from people... its almost always from people that are strongly Christian and believe that the Jews MUST rebuild the temple. They don't start with that comment.. They start with 'Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East' (false) and 'Israel is our only ally in a very dangerous part of the world (also false)... but almost always they get around to "the Jews were given the land thousands of years ago..." or some similar bullshit based on mythology.

Yep.
Which, of course, is exactly what They want.
agree with Rat.
all of the SuperRedTeamGo members of my family and friends will freely tell you that they unconditionally support Israel for the sole reason that "they are god's chosen people".
slightly related, i have noticed a significant uptick in "I support Israel" type bumper stickers here in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. has anybody else seen this trend in other locales?

I try not to talk about Israel with folks around here, pretty much for that reason.

Hmm, no, but I'll keep an eye out.
