Title: GenCon
Post by: kingyak on February 24, 2012, 04:15:37 PM
Anybody else planning on going this year?

I'll be running M-Force, Hobomancer, and a Muppet Robin Hood game and will be on 8 panels this year (current Hex schedule, which I think is final, is here (http://www.hexgames.com/qags/forums/4-events/2383-gencon-indianapolis-8162012-8192012) for anyone interested).

Also, as of yesterday Crafty Games was still looking for a few people to help run games/work their booth. So if anyone here is fluent int Spycraft/Fantasycraft/Mistborn and might want to trade some time for badges/crash space/swag, let me know and I'll get you their GenCon guy's contact info.

I stopped going in the early 90s, on account of gamer funk.

Will Steve Jackson's crew be there?  If so you are mandated to go fuck with them....and get pictures.

One of the advantages of being with a small company is that we're usually a few buildings away from ground zero. Last year I managed to avoid the main convention hall entirely.

Already did that a decade or so ago, though at a different con. They re-released GURPS Horror around the same time we released Spooky (or horror book) back in 2001. Since Steve Jackson was going to be GoH at one of our regular cons (Archon), we decided we challenge him to settle which company's horror book was the best. The only logical way to do this was, of course, live action TOON. We won the game and bragging rights (the headline on the SJG website the next day was "Beaten At My Own Game"). There are some pictures somewhere on the Hex web site, I believe.

Muppet Robin Hood?  I just got giddy.

Here's the page with the pics http://www.hexgames.com/qags/even-photos/64-archon-2001-photos (http://www.hexgames.com/qags/even-photos/64-archon-2001-photos). Try not to look directly at the leather pants.

For Comic Fans: The guy in the hideous Hawaiian shirt is Cullen Bunn, author of The Damned, The Sixth Gun, and assorted Marvel titles (I think his next gig is a Wolverine arc).

You can thank Fox News for that one. I'm billing it as "the most blatantly socialist Muppet adventure yet."

Well, if you are looking for source material for the next go-around, Fox Business' Lou Dobbs just recently declared both Dr. Seuss's The Lorax, and Disney's Arietty as Liberal propaganda.

:lulz:

He's right, of course.  At least about The Lorax.  But HIM jabbering about "propaganda" is flat-out hilarious.  It's not like he hasn't swum around in any gigantic cesspools himself, eh?

Yum Yums will be awarded for anyone who speaks in appropriately Seussian verse (at least until it starts to annoy me).
