Your silly inflated post count system caused me to miss my 10,000th post, which I was looking forward to noting, and maybe celebrating.
I blame you specifically and am shaking my fist vigorously in a northeasterly direction.
I demand satisfaction.

Hey! Mind your aim! :argh!:
Sorry about that! Mind throwing it the rest of the way for me while you have it?

Sure thing! I just deleted 185 of your posts randomly.
CONGRATULATIONS, YOU NOW HAVE 9,999 POSTS! MAKE THE NEXT ONE COUNT!
Have fun finding out which ones are missing!! ;-)

Wait, seriously? Also, I already posted in the meantime....

Ah, you have not.
This is my 10000th post.

Im going to be an uncle. Again. At least my sister got secretly married this time. :lulz:
Cheers to midsister then, and my in progress nephew/niece.

No indeed I didn't :lulz:
That would probably cost me my adminship, or something. Plus the scaring you is the funny part, not the actual deleting :lulz:
I should update the funky postcount code, though.

It's easily checked if I go into my profile. :lulz:
Really, how do you do that?
Never mind, I figured it out. What you do is click on profile, and go to show posts. The posts are numbered. Click on the last page and you'll get an accurate number. This will be post 10155 for me. So if I were to look for my 10000th post, I'd find post number 156.
I think Zip "fixed" the loophole where you could just go to your profile for an accurate postcount. :lulz:

It's too late. 10000 is not my lucky number. I intended to celebrate my 10000th day too, and realized with annoyance at work 2 and a half years ago that it had passed three days prior. There's just something about the number 10000 that I like, and it always comes by so rarely. And I always bloody miss it! 100000 days would be cool too, but I don't expect to live into my 270s. I'll just have to post like a motherfucker to get to that number.
:lulz:
I still love my friend freaking out over me having over 400,000 posts here. :lulz: He was all "HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE???"

You could also just click on the "show stats" button, and the post total's there.

But my method is slightly more time consuming and therefore better!

Unfortunately that one won't work for me because I've been around since early 05 and a lot of my posts have gone by-by in the various board/Apple Talk prunings.
Though, the bright side of that is no one can ever, ever read my first post ever again.
This is a good thing.

Oh man, can we get the gist of it?
Mine seems to be about belly button lint.
Damn! I forgot about pruning!
I'm actually at 10885 posts with this one.
Stupid Belgians messing with my internets!

I'm pretty sure it included the phrase "five tons of flax" and, also, I briefly started out with a different user name. But, after about two posts I realized it was really lame and changed it to RWHN. But there were no puns. I saved that for later posts. ;)
The first username I was going to use was Poleris.
GETTIT?
Clever!

Actually SMF2.0 fixed that. When I modified the postcounts on the old SMF 1.x board, there were two separate pieces of code for calculating the postcount, one for thread/message view and one for the profile view (there may even have been more, I dunno). I didn't realize this until someone mentioned the correct postcount still showed up in the profiles.
SMF2.0 fixed that, by having the postcount code just in one place. Which is technically better from a DRY programming point of view (Don't Repeat Yourself). Implementing the same functionality at two points in your code is bad practice because it means you can make a bug twice, and if you need to update the functionality (say, change in DB structure) you need to remember all the places where to change it.
That said, I kind of liked the loophole, and being able to view the true postcounts with an extra click. I kind of thought I had discovered a new way today, like Twid said, by doing "show posts" in the profile and checking the last number. But as RWHN said, that probably doesn't take pruned posts into account.
I'm fairly sure that the real post counts are somewhere in the database, still, though.
Still it doesn't quite matter, when I check the real postcount it is because basically I want to know how long someone has been around, and if their posts have been affected much by prunings, the answer probably is "quite a while" :)

You're a bit younger than me, right? In about two weeks I'll be exactly ONE BILLION SECONDS OLD! Also there were a few nice round numbers (or repeated numbers like 11111) of weeks last year that I completely missed. But I got one billion seconds and I don't intend to forget it!
You can use Wolfram|Alpha to calculate these kinds of things, just query for
(2 sept 1980, 20:35 CET) + one billion seconds (http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=(2+sept+1980,+20:35+CET)+%2B+one+billion+seconds) :)
Ooh, nifty! Thanks Trip!
April 14, 2013 at 12:40pm for my billionth second.
Damn. My 11111th day was in January....

I'm just glad I found a use for Wolfram|Alpha
For marking otherwise insignificant dates? I like it. Also my birthday this year is a law of fives number. 11323 days old.
