What should my next career move be?
Option 1: Take the job offer in DC that will make your name, nevermind things like "affordable housing" or "work/life balance".

Option 2: Find some way to get by for the winter then go back to your old job in Maine as head chef since it's going to be a year-round restaurant starting next year. At least you'll be getting paid to freeze your balls off.

So I am officially not working on a ship anymore. The company pulled the plug on the whole operation and my captain ran off and got a job in Ghana on a ship that doesn't require a cook. I have several options, but none of them stand out as being appealing enough to trump the others. So I ask you, PD....WHAT DO?
All those options suck. Take whichever option gets you around the most people so you can find some different options. I'm tempted to say "Find some way to get by for the winter..." and afterwards only take the ball-freezing job if nothing better has presented itself.
Sucks, ECH... Any of the guys who worked on your ship know of a spot? They know how well you fed 'em, maybe they know of a spot open somewhere?

Well, it looks like once I'm done here for the season I'm gonna move down to Virginia Beach for a little while. Don't have a job lined up there but I do have a place to live and some cool friends there to keep me occupied. Probably be out in Portland sometime in november or december to pick up my Exploder and drive it back east with all of my stuff. Definitely gonna miss the PNW, but not TOO much because I know I'll be back eventually.
