Serious attempt/question, though, would that be possible if you were logged in under multiple devices? Like if I'm logged in under both my iPad and my regular computer would I show up twice?
I think I tried that once and, as I recall, the forum only tracks you from the most recently used device. So if you were logged on computer one and two, and used one to read a thread, then the forum would only track you reading said thread. It's much like having different pages of the forum open on multiple tabs of the same browser.
That may only be the case for multiple logins on the same IP address, though. I can't say what would happen if you had multiple logins with different IP addresses.
I am not sure what causes it, so I am going to say arcane sorcery.
