Title: Dear humanity
Post by: Mesozoic Mister Nigel on October 09, 2012, 12:01:23 AM
... has it ever occurred to you that you FUCKING NEED A MOMMY?

I was just looking up a science book someone recommended, and, always curious, I clicked on the sole one-star review. This is what it says:

QuoteThis was a little to complicated for me. Everyhting was explained by science etc. I don't think an avarage person would enjoy this at all.
http://www.amazon.com/Zebras-Dont-Ulcers-Third-Edition/product-reviews/0805073698/ref=cm_cr_pr_hist_1?ie=UTF8&filterBy=addOneStar&showViewpoints=0

I feel like this sums up everything. Perfectly.

Things like this make me feel better about my misanthropy.

Yeah. I saw that and just went "Oh. That's right. THAT's what people are all about."

They do, Nigel, they need a Mommy.

And it's you.

And Mother loves them ever so much.

This is why I support dumb-shaming.

If someone thinks fucking Brazil is in Asia (true story) it is not considered overly rude to exclaim some snarky in disbelief.

IF you don't understand it, get on my level. I will do the same if I am being dumb.

WAT

At the same time, a lot of people around here seemed to think that Africa was a country before the Arab Spring. And other things like Canada being part of Europe etc.

Nope.  They're just prospecting for the club, but they'll never get voted in as a fully patched member.

A student of mine was very confident that Brazil was going to win the European Cup earlier this summer, despite the obvious geographical difficulties this presented.

A girl in my A-Level biology class during a discussion of human reproduction asked why couldn't we eat human eggs.

Annnnnnnd.....

The same girl went on a school ski trip. They were on a long bus ride somewhere in Europe. She woke up from her slumber, saw a large castle/chateau with a huge wall and asked "Is that the Great Wall of China?"

Sadly no. If Christina Applegate was showing up in my biology classes, I would've taken more interest. I think my biology teacher said something along the lines of: "No Claire....we don't eat human eggs because it's not economically viable."

I can't tell anymore if it's genetics or the lack of effort (laziness) in educating oneself.  :?
