Can someone explain to me why I'm supposed to give a fuck about some football player's "dead" invisible friend? I keep seeing it in the headlines which is clearly the news media telling me I SHOULD give a fuck. But I'm fuck out of fucks so I need to live vicariously through you fucks' fucks.
So what's the deal?
Because college football stars are idiots and don't know a Catfish troll when they see one.
the fuck ?
football?
invisible dead friends?
catfish ball?
troll...
:walken:
:belgian: <--when the hell did this happen?!?
Some Samoan Mormon from Hawaii who went to Notre Dame claimed his online girlfriend who lived in California and graduated from Stanford died from leukemia after getting into a car accident this fall, but it was really set up by some other guy who he knew from the internet and never existed. Her pics were stolen from another Facebook account and everything. Yep. I wish I could make this shit up.
And this is more important news that anything else, because this could cost him his NFL career.
Well, at least it, momentarily, knocked Armstrong out of the headlines. Who the fuck has time to talk about an economic apocalypse and school massacres when we have dopey football players and doping cyclists to talk about!!!
THANKS A LOT OBAMA!!!
And yet he it wasnt in the news them his prospects would remain undamaged. Its newsworthy for being newsworthy. I had to ask too because i dont see the appeal of football and couldnt care less about why people are talking whomever is being talked about.
Why are people always makin up news?!?!

It's much more fun and easy than finding out what's actually going on.

:lulz:
The only amusing aspect to this is how no-one originally bothered investigating whether said girlfriend actually existed.
Much like in the rest of the American media, sporting stars are not "fact-checked" to see if they are being untruthful.
Also, just for the sake of comparison:

Posts in response to topic showing strong likelihood of AQIM being an Algerian backed enterprise that America went along with for geopolitical reasons in Africa and the possible consequences of this for the French intervention in Mali = 0.
And given this place is more intelligent than the average audience to which American media panders, why shouldn't they assume people are more interested in gossipy scandal and celebrity related intrigue than actual news?

I was going to get around to it when I got home. Which I just did.
I was a dumb American, and was confused by the whole thing.
I'm somewhat ashamed by my ignorance, hence my lack of comments.

I had that going on too, but figured that it was something I should get clarified. If only for the fact that France getting involved militarily is interesting.
