Title: So, after 3 years, I finally needed to change my sleeping pills.
Post by: The Good Reverend Roger on January 29, 2013, 07:29:09 PM
This new pill is either not working out well at all, or is working so fucking well that I'll never need to shave my head ever again.  It is impossible to make the call yet.

Up the revolution, Assmonkeys!

This shit is wasted on the United Nations.  WASTED, I tell you!  They should hang it up over every military recruiter's door.

I'm telling you, I've got obsidian-edged clubs flying out of the South, and the sky is black with chickens.

Well, not really, but I feel it SHOULD be.

Now I know how Marcel Duchamp must have felt.  (Interesting note:  He died 29 days before I was born.)  He said something about the spectator being part of the artistic process, once:

QuoteThe creative act is not performed by the artist alone; the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act.

Which SOUNDS like Yoko Ono bullshit until you think about it...Art is the act of changing peoples' emotional state in some way, and if nobody GETS you, then your art is not actually art.  It's some kind of whacking off, hipster-style.

But what if it only changes one person's emotional state?

What if it only changes the artists'?

Is it still art?  Does art have a critical mass needed?

So, putting Guernica in front of a gigantic building full of brainless, passive-aggressive nationalists is kind of like jamming your junk in the mayonaise.  You may FEEL like you've accomplished something, but nobody ELSE benefits or KNOWS they benefit, even if they go make themselves a ham sammich.

Then it's art.  But in this case, it's retail art, and war is wholesale.

QuoteWhat if it only changes the artists'?

I think we call that a "sigil", and that is in fact wankery.

That is Guernica, Pablo Picasso's take on war, specifically the bombing of a Spanish village by Nazis, during the Spanish civil war (immediately preceding WWII).

It's the best depiction of warfare I've ever seen (if you look at it while you have lice and "concert ears", you pretty much get the full effect), and it is absolutely wasted in its current place.

Think I hit the speed of WALL.  Got all these bastards in the other building hanging on my leg, jabbering about shit that doesn't matter to a maintenance chief that doesn't care (which would be me).  They move like lightning, but speak only gibberish.  It's like working with a pack of severely retarded cocaine addicts.  What ARE these people doing anywhere NEAR a chemical refinery?  That's the only question I have.  Other than that, I ignore them, the way Ron Jeremy ignores huge crab lice that would kill a lesser man.  They are full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

It's sort of like working as a page in congress, I think, only without the constant threat of sodomy.

This Goddamn "lunch" of mine isn't food; it's what you feed to food.  How fucked up is that?  Your tastes finally change to healthier food, but at a slower rate than that which your body demands your diet change.  I like Indian food instead of Big Macs now, but most Indian cuisine is now a "sometimes" food.

Getting old is BULLSHIT, and not for sissies.

What's really amazing is that the NEW pills are ALMOST chemically identical to the OLD pills.  One teensy change in the way the molecules are built and/or arranged, and suddenly it's HR Goddamn Puffinstuff, all day long.

The one thing that scares me is, I'll probably get used to this stuff, and then it's back to the same old routine as the old stuff.

And that would be a damn shame.

On the plus side, I only need a half a mg of this stuff, whereas the old stuff took 2 or even 4 mg to make the nut.  And the bad thing about benzos is that after 5 mg, you start ploughing furrows in your brain.

Change a molecule, suddenly you're looking at a whole new ball of wax, only it's not wax, and it's not a ball, and it's alive.

People don't really remember what a fucking GENIUS.  He didn't even SEE the bombing...This was done based off of a survivor's account.

As far as the effect, it's on a huge tapestry at the UN.  You can see that there haven't been any wars since.

Bastards just walk right by it in their proper little gray suits and gray corpse-accountant minds.

You know, it's really hard to articulate how much I hate the very existence of the UN.  Not for any teabagger conspiracy bullshit reasons, but because it's WORSE THAN USELESS.  It's something leaders can point to, to deflect blame from their bloodthirsty ambitions...While the UN beats the ever-loving shit out of the peasants at zero cost to the leader.

Example:  Slapping sanctions on a "rogue nation".  You think that means El Presidente is gonna starve?  Fuck no, he's still eating filet mignon off of gold plates while the peasants learn to eat dirt.

Prior to 1945, when there was a problem, bastards in pricey uniforms got strung up.  Now if that's done at all (Saddam), it's done as cheap theater, reality TV snuff.  Usually, though, the common folk take it in the shorts and everyone pretends that it made a BIG DIFFERENCE, while fuckers at places like Halliburton lick their lips and chuckle.

Another reason to punch my past self in the face. STUPID OVERACHEIVER, KNOCK IT OFF!

Also it occurred to me that I'm stressing the citations and getting everything just right, and FFS there is no way my instructor is going to look up these articles and read the cited page to make sure my paraphrase captures the original meaning. Not when each one is 20 pages of this:
QuoteModulation of excitability in the dominant motor cortex significantly affected performance for the contra-lateral and ipsi-lateral hands, whereas modulating excitability in the non- dominant motor cortex only had a significant impact for the contra-lateral hand (83).

Fuck, I can probably say just about anything I want and as long as it's comprehensible, it'll be fine.
