QuoteA teenage girl who was dropped from her high school's cheerleading squad after refusing to chant the name of a basketball player who had sexually assaulted her must pay compensation of $45,000 (£27,300) after losing a legal challenge against the decision.
There are asshats in another forum trying to defend this decision and it's overloading my rage circuits.
Yeah, I remember that case.
Welcome to America.
Because it's not enough she got raped. Not enough she had to swallow a plea deal for a lesser charge because "it's so hard to get a rape conviction." Not enough that he didn't even see jail time, not enough that he stayed in her school and the school did nothing. Not enough that they held the rights of the offending athlete over the victim's. No, because she said things and she needs to SHUT UP, and now she needs to PAY UP so no one else gets any ideas about saying anything, because this rape problem would go away if the girls would just remember to SHUT UP.

She has been shown her place.
That judge should be dragged behind a truck.
America: Where we drag all the wrong people behind pickups.
Well that's a new low for today.
I really hope she refuses to pay and makes a big fucking stink. Sport in general is treated as an untouchable area which I have never understood. Running fast was important once. Not so much now. Yet the adulation remains.
Judge looks like a good candidate for a jake.
Fuck the world.

I think that Judge needs a congratulatory letter. Or 50 of them.
Don't forget the superintendent, he's the nasty little shit that started this particular legal atrocity really.
A few flyers relating this tale at the next game wouldn't go amiss either.

Oh, yes. Writing something up this evening, I think.

Nice.
As an aside, the kid must be pretty good at whatever activity sport it was. A statement from him would have been a show of character either way. He admitted at least some guilt so it'd be at least a fucking gesture for him to say something.
Silsbee has always been a bastion of old boys, beerhearts and meth.
I'm trying to comprehend but I guess I'm having a hard time.
What, from the courts perspective, would be a reasonable and legal form of protest against the action that was required of her, clapping for her rapist?
Allowing protest seems to be ingrained in our culture, and is one of the many things that our "right of free speech" is touted for.
Free speech doesn't apply for raped cheerleaders in small east texas towns that love their athletes? That seems to be the message that is communicated here.

It's like when my daughter got punished for correcting a teacher once and I asked what the accepted protocol for that was supposed to be:
"It's not her place to speak."
Texas.

WOW.
I had to vent my rage gland.
QuoteJesus fucking Christ on a cracker, just because someone wasn't convicted of rape (BECAUSE OF A PLEA BARGAIN) doesn't mean he didn't rape her. This isn't a court of law, we're not even the goddamned media, and you know that the majority of rapists aren't convicted because it's insanely difficult to get rape convictions. You're an asshole, Voluntarily's an asshole, anyone who is defending this OBVIOUS FUCKING RAPIST is an asshole. And no, this is not Steubenville Fever, you unconscionable fucktard. Whether you like it or not, there are girls on the internet. And that means that after a certain age it is a STATISTICAL CERTAINTY that someone we know and care about was raped. And more times than not, the rapist got away with it. So here it is, happening again right in front of us, and not only do the courts fail her the first time, but the school fails her, and then the courts slap her down viciously for daring to speak up about the fucking problem. Because we all know that the only reason all of this rape stuff keeps coming up is because these girls won't SHUT UP AND GO AWAY.
I'm not putting up with this anymore. It looks like there are other people here who are not willing to put up with it either. If you don't like how we react to it, stay the fuck out of the rape threads. No one wants to hear your bullshit apologist claptrap, you cockmongering backbirth.
This is wrong.

Who is this a response to? Because I likes it.
This case is about 2 years old, and I've noticed that whenever there is a high-profile case the feminist interwebs via facebook spit this case out, and it goes viral again. Last time was the Savannah Dietrich case, where 15 year old went public and names and shamed her 2 assailants, and was almost jailed herself for contempt of court. She waived her anonymity rights and was all like "HELL NO!"
I might have to take the day off the internets, for rape culture is doing a number on my rage gland and I seemingly cannot use my words to haetshit it out.

Someone posting anonymously on whyweprotest. I honestly did not notice it was two years old, rageblindness and all.
She wasn't a team player. She didn't support her schools athletes. It's all about the game, he's a good playe. I mean nobodies perfect but out there on the field, all that matters is the game. I bet she doesn't even love America.
