The UK went through a phase of knife stabbings.  Or at least increased media reportings on knife stabbings.  Then the government vowed to "get tough on knife hooligans".

Now, as a consequence of that, none of our students can buy cutlery sets when they arrive here.  And of course, they can't bring knives with them, because ZOMG TERRORISM.

No wonder they eat takeaway pizza all the time.

The only correct action now is to start attacking people with forks.  Then, spoons.

Would you listen to yourselves - ban guns, ban knifes, ban pizza. This is not how you solve the killing in schools thing. It's obvious that when you ban one thing, the enterprising student killer will merely find another weapon that isn't banned. You're basically playing fucking whack-a-mole.

The solution is simple - ban schools!

Remember how West, Texas didn't want any federal help?  Remember how Rick Perry said they didn't need big government's assistance?

Well, they aren't getting it, and now they're all whining.

QuoteIn a statement on Wednesday afternoon, FEMA spokesman Dan Watson said the agency had provided over $7 million in federal funds directly to families affected by the disaster, as well as emergency housing assistance and funds to help the state remove debris.

The town of about 2,800 people had asked for a total of about $57 million for work that included road repairs and included $40 million to rebuild a school flattened in the explosion, the AP reported.

"We don't have the money to go out and borrow the money. We don't have the means to pay that note back," West Mayor Tommy Muska told the AP. "There's got to be some public assistance."

It looks to be more of a quiz than a survey.  And you don't even need to really do the quiz to get the point they are making.  Which is clearly that Texas needs to do a better job of arresting the white pot smokers.

My little brother had a cop seize his pot, and then not arrest him or even write him a ticket...My brother saw the cop soon after the stop, pulled over in the next gas station up the road.  The cop had his hands down in his lap, as if he was rolling something...The cop was actually wanting speed, because  he kept barking out "If you have any speed, you'd better give it up now!" repeatedly to my Bro and his friend.

http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/medical_examiner/2013/07/texas_abortion_ban_after_20_weeks_prenatal_testing_reveals_birth_defects.html

QuoteWhy do some women wait so long? The answer is that comprehensive fetal testing, such as anatomical sonograms and ultrasounds of the heart, are typically performed just before 20 weeks of gestation. Such scans are critical for uncovering major birth defects, such as anencephaly (severe brain malformations), major heart defects, missing organs and limbs, and other severe birth defects. Fetal development is a complex process that often goes awry. Roughly 2 percent of all pregnancies are complicated by a major birth defect, and of those about 0.5 percent have a chromosomal defect, such as an extra or missing segment of normal DNA. Birth defects are a leading cause of infant mortality, and in many cases of severe birth defects, no medical treatment can salvage a fetus's life or result in any measure of normal future health.

All this and they cut medicaid/medicare, too.

Glad I know they can carry meningitis...ruins my idea of keeping some in an aquarium...
Or I could just get a meningitis shot. :)

...Because I find giant crawly things just THAT overwhelmingly cool...

Okay, no. They can carry meningitis, but you don't get it from incidental contact with one, you have to eat it without cooking it properly. Basic handwashing (which you should be doing after handling any wild animal) is enough to prevent infection even if you are unlucky enough to encounter one of the few snails that is carrying around meningitis.

The reason everyone gangs up on giant african land snails is that they're an agricultural pest and they can be dangerous to some types of housing (they'll suck calcium off stucco and concrete, eventually doing serious damage if there are enough of them). They are also a very successful invasive species in certain climates.

They're illegal to keep in the US, because of the whole invasive species thing. People keep them in the UK, though.

I'm surprised they didn't try and pull some shit about Slave/Slavery being not politically correct. "Indentured lifelong immigrant workers" or some shit.

It would seem wise. You keep talking about slavery and sooner or later some clever fuck is going to mention Wage Slavery and you've got a radical to deal with.

NEWS FLASH: WE ALL DO HAVE SLAVES. Just because your slaves don't live in our back yard or work your farm doesn't mean you don't have them.

Bink's brother was in that school. I could have sworn all Texas schools had mandatory metal detectors.
