Title: Thoughts?
Post by: Nephew Twiddleton on June 11, 2013, 11:25:41 PM
A female Discordianesque friend just posted this to her facebook.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v98CPXNiSk

I kinda want to laugh at it because sometimes Villager asks me if something's wrong even if nothing is. (I have an occasional tendency to give off the wrong vibe even with people who are close to me).

I found this extremely amusing. I get that frequently. Along with the 'smile more"

The funny thing is, sometimes I just have nothing to say, and am feeling nothing in particular.

Something must be wrong, right?

I mean, I get it. I'm a pretty emotional guy, so if I'm not showing something, I must be bored or upset or something. But sometimes I'm just content, and there's no content face, is there?

Maybe this speaks to people assuming unreadable expressions are by necessity negative, because you don't know what the person is thinking.

I have naturally sinister eyebrows and smile a lot.

A new co-worker has started calling me "trouble" and "Loki".

The more I think about it the more I think that we put too much stock into body language. People make odd and misleading facial expressions unconsciously.

Especially in a genetically heterogeneous society where our faces have at least 6 different horny conquering warlords in our distant ancestry and therefore we can't tell fuck from all in each others' faces so maybe we should just listen to each others' words once in a while

My best friend has Bitchy Resting Face.

I apparently look either SUPER FRIENDLY AND APPROACHABLE, or silently, coldly angry like I just pulled a man's legs off while he was still alive.

Marathon was like my favorite thing for a long time

I rejected Halo when some random Internet spag once led me to believe that Halo was a continuation of the Marathon story, and I found nothing to indicate that to be true.

An early First-Person Shooter game, after Doom but still in the relatively early days. Considered unique for the depth and scope of its story. The "Marathon" itself was a spaceship carved out of one of the moons of Mars to be a supply ship for Martian colonies. It was managed mostly by three distinct AIs: Leela, Tycho, and Durandal. All but Leela were damaged by an alien attack, and Leela is eventually overwhelmed by Durandal, who has gone "rampant" (when an AI accesses computer resources sufficient to become self-aware and break free of its programmed purpose).

The player is rendered little more than a pawn of vastly greater intelligences than itself, eventually saving the universe from an Elder God trapped in a star not for the sake of sentient life in the universe, but because the rampant AI recognizes it as the only threat to its otherwise eternal existence.

Also, you shoot lots of aliens.

Ironically I always look happy and approachable just before I decapitate someone.
