So finally got our appointment for our work visas in the UK. Assuming all goes well, we will be headed to somewhere near Buckinghamshire in the next month. Also, looks like I might be in Edinbourough sometime in the next couple weeks for a few days.
Having never been to Scotland, anything I should be aware of?
Also, Cain or anyone else nearish London, any recommendations on which counties west of the city are good (not horridly expensive) to find a place to live? The office is in Penn.

Prozac and whisky should keep the suicidal thoughts manageable.
If anyone in a tracksuit approaches you, you've just been invited to a knife fight. Stick him first.
Under no circumstances should you put donner kebab meat anywhere near your mouth. The integrity of your genetic structure may well depend on it. In fact even just touching it may well be enough to cause an irrevocable glandular imbalance.
Our rain will burn you less the further you get from Grangemouth
Well, if you go far enough West, eventually you'll reach Cornwall, which is pretty reasonably priced given you have to put up with the Cornish.
Seriously though, the whole of the South of the UK is horrifically expensive in terms of house prices, and the closer to London, the less those prices have to do with reality.
In Buckinghamshire itself, Burnham may be your best bet. Relatively cheap accomodation and good transport links. Fairly countrysidey, with enough population to support modern amenities, like dial-up internet and sterilized drinking water.
I get daily reports from my best friend on the weather in England
Expect it to be rainy and cold, with a few refreshing days of just cold and a bit drizzly...Expect to freeze your family jewels off in the winter.
UK Visas delivered today. We'll be moving the weekend of July 19th!
P3nt, please link this poor bastard to yours and Payne's tourism thread.

I loved that thread :D
We won't be living in Scotland though, we'll be just outside London (Buckinghamshire). Though we have a customer in Edinburgh that I'll be going to see, so I'll keep the warnings in mind, maybe hire an armored Humvee and some military contractors.
