Just throwing it out there because I haven't seen a forum structure topic for a while.
Do we have too many boards for our present level of activity?
Are there benefits to shrinking things down when it's quiet and are there any suggestions for which boards would be suitable for merger?
I'm cool either way.
They are fallow for now. Our membership has only seen a boost in the last quarter of the year. I think a recruitment drive is in order before rearranging the forum, that being said we do probably have one or two too many:
Principia Discussion: Catch all for the crazy, occasional interesting topics though.
Apple Talk: 90% of forum traffic
Operation Mindfuck: Fallow barely used, but holds a lot of threads we couldn't make available to the general public
Aneristic Illusions: Pretty active and insightful but needs more contributors.
Think for Yourself, Schmuck: Not very active but it doesn't have to be, useful history of discordian projects and a good workbench for new ones. It's child boards are less active but are a good way of grouping stuff like horrorology, maybe these dont need to be displayed from the front page.
Discordian Recipes: No idea, I think i've posted in there once. Doesn't seem active but people would probably raise hell if we got rid of it.
Literate Chaotic: Sparsely used though I like talking about comic books in there, could be demoted to a child board. It seems mostly like a review recommendation page but we rarely use that. It would be cool to see other works around the net being discussed there.
Or Kill Me: Not used enough. The last few years have beaten the fight out of a lot of people. I wouldn't get rid of this because -> A lot of rant style writing is being placed in apple talk now, but apple talk is also the only forum that old threads are deleted from so I would like to move rants to or kill me where possible and applicable.
Techmology and Scientism: Interesting topics but barely used but could be demoted to a subforum of another forum.
Propaganda Depository: Very useful repository even if it's not active. Could be demoted to a sub forum but I think new people look in there a lot. I've no idea about it's child boards.
Bring and Brag: No idea.
The peanut gallery: Useful but could be a child board.
Forum Announcements: Useful for me not really for anywhere else.

Question: What if "Or Kill Me" was renamed, to disassociate it from its ghetto origins?

Well, the other option is making Or Kill Me into NOPE and moving "best of" threads into. No new threads are possible, but replies are unrestricted.
Child boards totally do my tits in for no reason I can adequately explain. Just throwing that out there...

"Nope" wouldn't be my choice for a forum name but something like that sounds good. Why no new threads though, what if someone wanted to post one there?
Do you mean to keep it a trophy case like the peanut gallery? I'd be wary of having too many archive forums too.

Make sense, Lit, propoganda and sci don't get enough traffic to justify front page status.
The only thing is the propaganda repository repository is useful for drawing in new members, however for a while I've been thinking of doing a page similar to the reading list for it. and I could put a link to the repo forums on it.

I find myself ambivalent regarding the number of boards per number of users. But I agree that doing something about Or Kill Me and the de-ghetto-ization thereof is a splendid suggestion. Call it "Rage and Spew" or something.
No real preferences either way, I tend to go straight to the unread posts/new replies rather than each board however.
The only thing I can suggest is maybe making the project board more obvious, it seems to get overlooked a lot but there's usually at least one thing ongoing.

I kinda like it that way, myself. Keeps the more obnoxious noobs from spagging it up.
