Title: Flat earth society
Post by: ivan on March 21, 2015, 09:17:17 AM
I watched the livejournal post "Another Korea of Eun" (https://translate.google.ru/translate?sl=ru&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=ru&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fmatveychev-oleg.livejournal.com%2F1683653.html&edit-text=) about North Korea, where there was a range of technological advances North Koreans, not as usual, about their problems.
Noticed one of the photos:
(http://is3.soundragon.su/wp-content/uploads/242640_900.jpg) (https://translate.google.ru/translate?sl=ru&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=ru&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fmatveychev-oleg.livejournal.com%2F1683653.html&edit-text=)
where the North Korean satellite hovering over not spherical earth. Somewhere i have already seen it. I racked my brain and remembered:
(http://is3.soundragon.su/wp-content/uploads/6e5b451221.jpg) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Earth#/media/File:Orlando-Ferguson-flat-earth-map_edit.jpg)
This earth model according to Hindu, Chinese, and Native American mythology (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discworld_%28world%29).

And if that's true, last year's news about the North Korean cosmonaut been uttered in the sun, doesn't look that fantastic.

From all this i concluded that North Korea is a social experiment:
- there is no division into hemispheres of the New and the Old world;
- the official cosmology without rotation of astronomical objects in orbits.

Materials on the subject:

News about the flight to the sun (http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=0e0_1390507888)
Wikipedia's World Turtle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Turtle)
Vkontakte group of believers in that model (http://vk.com/club5674184)

I am a member in good standing of the Flat Earth Society, and I can assure you that nobody has gotten high enough to get into the way of the sun.  First of all, your craft would be deflected by the giant rails.

Also, those dome-shaped Earths are absolute crap.  The Earth looks nothing like that.  The fucker is FLAT.

I used to live among mountains, so I figured "hey, maybe the Earth COULD be round. I can't see the whole thing with all of these mountains in the way."

Then I visited New Mexico and confirmed that, indeed, the whole thing is flat. I mean, just LOOK at it, you know? Don't believe everything you read.

You people are crazy. The Earth HAS to be round.

If it wasn't round, it'd mess up the skin of the universe when God shoots it into the corner black hole. QED.

I'm taking Dorfl's stance on this one:

"Another priest said,"Is it true you've said you'll believe in any god whose existence can be proved by logical debate?"

"Yes."

Vimes had a feeling about the immediate future and took a few steps away from Dorfl.

"But the gods plainly do exist," said a priest.

"It Is Not Evident."

A bolt of lightning lanced down through the clouds and hit Dorfl's helmet. There was a sheet of flame and then a trickling noise. Dorfl's molten armour formed puddles around his white-hot feet.

"I Don't Call That Much Of An Argument," said Dorfl calmly, from somewhere in the clouds of smoke."

I always kinda figured some prophet or another in the Ancient World slyly pilfered The Disc from Pratchett's brain by telepathic precognition. THAT'S how you infringe copyrights!

You never can really, truly trust prophets.

In path integral summations for quantum gravity of non-globally-hyperbolic spacetimes, across all possible Lorentzian metrics, I cannot /a priori/ exclude the disk model due to isomophisms with Closed Time-like Curves.  This you will discover in 2028.
