Title: A report on the qabalistic aspects of The City.
Post by: LMNO on June 07, 2005, 01:11:32 PM
Report 235A From the S.S.O.O.K.N. ,Äì Government Designation 1742q11:  A Study Concerning the Non-experiential Elements and Effects of Psychotecture | Parts M-Q: Qabala and Numerology {Excerpt}

Submitted by Throat Warbler Mangrove XVII

This report, and the Occult Practices within has been authorized and sanctioned by Government using Chapter 25 Paragraph 3 circumventing the Non-Standard Reasoning Act of 2013

,ĶThe word CITY, typed into the JEW3000 Gematria processor produced SITY or Samekh, Yod, Teth, Yod.  Samekh was used as there,Äôs no soft ,ÄòC,Äô sound in Hebrew.  Such an entry rendered numbers of 60 + 10 + 9 + 10 = 89 which, as we will see, is a number with much interest and significance.

Each individual letter yields up a wealth of information. Starting with Samekh (equivalent to ,ÄòS,Äô in English) we have the meaning of a ,Äútent peg,Äù.  The tent peg symbolizes a connection between heaven and earth.  The peg holds the tent down, fastening it to the earth, while the tent poles themselves hold the structure up.  While this may seem obvious, consider the skyline of the modern metropolis; specifically, a skyscraper.  Human Nature seems drawn to creating massive structures.  Whether a pyramid or the fabled Empire State Building, mankind are driven by a need to stretch up from the earth and penetrate the sky.  And as studies have shown there has been a 130% increase in shoplifting in The City ,Äì a practice so named from the days of markets when one could ,Äòlift,Äô up a shop (tent) and purloin an item or two.

A brief Digression:  This symbolism is not merely relegated to Qabalists.  Taoists imagined a universe being held up by a large pole.  An immense pole that they named T,Äôai Chi or Supreme Pole.  The T,Äôai Chi symbol is generally what the typical citizen calls a ,Äòyin/yang,Äô sign.  Describing it by its apparent duality misses the point as it applies to this study, but the T,Äôai Chi symbol shows up in the odious Discordian hodgepodge, as well.  It seems that the dastardly crew has tried to align itself with the heart of The City itself.

The closest thing in Hebrew to a letter ,ÄòI,Äô is Yod, which can double up as a ,ÄòY,Äô, which is why it appears twice in our analysis.  The Yod means ,Äòhand,Äô and has the numerical value of 10 (as a single letter or twenty when the word is spelled in full).  This aligns with the connection of 2 hands = 10 fingers, the key instrument of creative expression for Homo sapiens, and the advent of the Decimal System.  The development of the opposable thumb through evolution* has led to precision grip and great dexterity.  No thumbs = no tools = no buildings = the lack of The City itself.

Next is Teth or ,Äòserpent,Äô that represents ,ÄòT,Äô.  The so-called Fall of Man,Ñ¢ in the Holy Bible is blamed on Eve,Äôs relationship with the serpent and yet, the Egyptians, builders of the pyramids, venerated the snake as the ureus perched upon the 3rd eye as a symbol of enlightenment.  This also relates to the hedonistic tantrics driving their kundalini up their spines.  The undulating movement of the serpent has been used to symbolize the flux of life & death.  The relation to The City becomes obvious when related to the words of Urban Poet Laureate (post mortem) Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five:

A baby cries and a mother dies
And tears fall from the doctor,Äôs eyes
Because in this room and on this day
The good Lord giveth and taketh away.

                  New York, New York (1982)

Another Yod on the end completes CITY,Ķ2 hands driven by knowledge and an upright spine, constructing our skyscraper monuments to unite heaven and earth perhaps,Ķ

* Note: Evolution, in this sense, is used purely as a theory, and is not in violation of Penal Law 7784.

Civil Order of Protectorates (C.O.P.) File 5422317/q96
For Case Number 13723: Government Inc. v To-Be-Named Subversives

Officer,Äôs Note: The following notes were recovered from a raid (strike: read as "Investigative Procedures as listed on page 72 of the Officer,Äôs Manual") at the Surveyor,Äôs Office in City Square.  The Author of these Documents is presumed to be Throat Warbler Mangrove XVII, and performing certain Occult Activities without permission or authorization.  Mangrove himself was not found.  Italicized notes hereafter have been made by C.O.P.,Äôs Resident turncoat (strike: read as "Re-Patriotized Citizen"), known only as ,ÄúShadow,Äù.

Having examined the attributes of the Hebrew letters, we can peel away more layers of the CITY and find the symbolism of the tarot and astrology.

Returning to Samekh, the associated tarot card is Temperance or Art as it,Äôs rendered in Crowley,Äôs Thoth tarot.  From an intellectual perspective, this card can represent the scientific method.  Consider the science needed to build and maintain a city.  Architecture, engineering, geometry, mathematics for starters, and then contemplate the intricacies and logistics needed to supply us with water or power or any other infrastructure that we rely upon.  It,Äôs irrelevant whether we,Äôre thinking of a modern city or ancient Rome.  Note: Heresy One ,Äì Equating the barbaric practices of 3500 years ago to the glorious achievements of today.  Constructing a city is an enormous undertaking where our visions of how we might live manifest through the scientific method.  Materially, this card is about ,Äúsuccess follows complex maneuvers,Äù. Speaks for itself, non?

Temperance (Art) can be equated to fiery Sagittarius and is ruled by Jupiter.  In the qabalah, the planet Jupiter is placed authoritatively upon the tree of life at Chesed (mercy) and considered ,Äòpaternal,Äô and ,Äòorganized.,Äô (By Jove! He might be on to something.)  Everything about the CITY is shot through with the contradiction between the expansive, aggressive nature of fire and the passive, heavy materialism of earth.  There,Äôs a dichotomy that exists between drive, ambition and the mundane practicalities of daily survival.  Let,Äôs have a look at the next card.

The letter Yod gives us The Hermit card and the earth sign of Virgo.  What does the Hermit do?  Well, he,Äôs quiet, perhaps even silent,Ķ.off somewhere in creative retirement.  Am I suggesting that there could be peace and tranquillity in the CITY?  I don,Äôt have to; the gematria takes care of that for us!  Some rude New Yorker or Parisian might tell you to SHUT UP (89) when you visit their CITY (89).  Enforcing SILENCE (89) upon you.

Now, I don,Äôt know whether you think SHUT UP is like STFU or whether you,Äôre thinking it,Äôs like being ,Äòshut up,Äô inside someplace.  Maybe ,Äúcreative retirement,Äù is a polite term for being banged up in jail? (There is a lot of shop lifting about).  In the CITY, there,Äôs a fine line between Hermit and prisoner. Note: Heresy Two- Implications that Re-Education is a Negative Experience.

So what,Äôs it all about Mangrove?  You should know the answer already.  It,Äôs money!
The Hermit is ruled by Mercury or Hermes (Roman) or Thoth (Egyptian).  He,Äôs a slippery, quicksilver god of commerce.  He,Äôs a trickster, a fleet-footed divine messenger that gives you both truth and falsehood only without telling you which is which.  Is the CITY mercurial? Duh!  Play the stock market much?  Ironically, the planet Mercury rules Virgo; an earth sign.  In the tarot, the earth element is represented by discs or yup, you guessed it; coins.  Note: Heresy Three- Implies flaws in Capitalistic Theory.

We go from fire to earth and back to fire.  Our letter ,ÄòT,Äô is ,ÄòTeth,Äô.  The card is Strength (or Lust in Crowley Ville) and the sign is Leo. Definitely fire as it,Äôs ruled by the Sun.  Whether you see the more traditional version of the card or Crowley,Äôs, what you get is a woman controlling a lion.  That,Äôs a mystery the Brits can figure out by examining their loose change,Ķ..The lion lays down with the lamb; the lamb lies down on Broadway,Ķwhatever.

There,Äôs a lot to be said about this card, but one attribution made interesting reading in relation to the CITY.  It,Äôs about female sexuality controlling the lower, bestial nature in man! I,Äôm sure most cities can cater to this attribute.  Limo lap dance in New York,ĶAmsterdam,Äôs famous red light district.  Oh yeah,Ķand then there,Äôs money again,Ķ..  Note: Heresy Four- Raising Woman Above Man.  This passage also hints at Illegal acts of Sexual Experimentation as Prohibited by the Do as We Say, Not as We Do Act of 2017.

You're just after the bonus points!

I actually do know how it was done, but apparently the website that described the whole thing is down and I can't be bothered to describe it here. Besides, that would be threadjacking, would it not? I would never dream of jacking such a beautiful thread as this one. So I guess you'll just have to figure it out on your own or go on with your life.

Considering that legos can be slightly bent, I'm thinking they warped the steps to fit.

But I'm probably wrong.

i think the stair case isn't continuous, that there's actually a gap or gaps in it somewhere but the camera angle makes it look like a single loop.

or it's magic lego.

LMNO - you could've written it. It was during a phase of my life when I had more time. That's really all it was...an excess of time on my hands.
