Title: A declaration of defeat
Post by: Chaplin_Sinatra_Fonzarell on July 04, 2005, 07:40:57 AM
A year ago, I would have made a fourth of July post saying "OMG AMERICA SUCKS WE'RE SO FAT AND STUPID AND APATHETIC AND OUR PRESIDENT LOOKS LIKE A MONKEY LOL" while my fat white ass got bigger from food from the kitchen as people are starving and other people are getting blown up for oil that's used to power this computer.

I think I've matured a little. Actually, this last week, I've had my climax of starry-eyed Utopian Anarchist idealism and have begun my descent into cynical Post-Leftism. Probably the same thing the hippies were going through in the early 70s. It's not a pretty thing. realizing that there's nothing you can do and that civilization will always suck and that Bush/Nixon is not the Anti-Christ that the world will stand in opposition against but just another in a long line of privilidged white men answering to the higher calling that is greed and that making LJ posts about how much America sucks won't help anything and in it's own way, Western Europe is just as bad and that you're just contributing to a trite homogenous fashion statement.

So, unless I get out of this funk, (I don't know if it's permanent or just temporary) I'm hanging up my activist's coat and hat. You've done it, system, you've crushed another voice of dissent and turned it into a bitter, apathetic husk of a former self. No anti-jingoist rant for me. I don't care. In a million years, maybe, the plants and animals will have reconquered the Earth. No more LJ icons saying "Fuck Bush", no more flyers raving about the Neo-Con agenda, no more pretending that boycotting Wal-Mart makes a difference.

Americanism has won.

Hey Fonz,

I know where you're at, I've been there a million times, and all I can say is this too shall pass. If activism's really in your blood, then you'll find your path again, if not, you'll find something else, but don't beat yourself up about it.

I mean, honestly, it makes me roll my eyes to see Live 8 or some of these other fashionable protests and think "Oh, someone thinks they're gonna save the world with a heap of celebrity masturbation" but it never does does it? No, the stuff that makes life bearable is never a grand or permanent solution, there's no deus ax machina coming our way, but if small victories are all we get, then my philosophy is to grab as many as possible. YMMV.

Yeah, don't worry. I go through these all the time. I was depressed and hung over when I wrote that and I'm over-dramatic when I'm depressed. I think my revolutionary spirit's coming back. I have the energy to blow up an oil tanker again.

Unless we can make Discordanism a force for change in this planet(There have been many planets worse of then this one who have embraced the Goddess and made a better world because of it),things will just get worse.

Erisianism is still young on this world,so we need to spread the  ONE TRUE FAITHtm. before the XTians/Muslems Immenentize the Eschaton. I am trying my best, but I am only one trans-dimensional entity.
Once my assignment on this world is up(Still got another 25 earth years left),
I doubt that i would ever come back here unless the Church of Eris(any form of discordianism is Church of Eris) becomes the dominant paradigm.
If discordianism becomes the dominant paradigm, this beings(yes I know that there are a number of you on this board that can already travel trans-d.I am talking about the cabbages, not those of us who know how to fully use the pineal gland and their imagination) of this planet will finally be able travel to other dimesions, other realities.

dsicordianism need not be a force for change. in fact fuck hiding behind ideas and ideals. go out and fucking get the shit together already.

saying you have ideals is jsut another way  of sayin gyou take it up the ass from the corporation.

so, am i to understand then that entropy wasn't disproven?

that, in fact, reverse-entropy in a thermodynamic enviornment isn't
what is indeed taking place?

ever notice how virii and fungii seem very similar?

colonizing, speading to critical mass, then replicating and sending off?

the difference is that virii are typically entropic and destructive...like
a parasitic relationship. fungii are typically, however, reverse-entropic
and regenerating (more of a symbiotic relationship, decomposing things
dead and rotting to turn them into new energy and matter..)

the species Homo Sapiens has been compared (by some it's own members)
to a Virus. much merit can be attached to that accusation. but the
question i'm compelled to ask is if the same potential can be tapped and
turned non-parasitic and gravitate towards symbiosis...like the
Fungii.

c'mon people, Space and Time are waiting for us/ (and those are just the beginning...y'all should be damn thankful that i took the bhodisattva promise before i fully understood just how fucking long this is going to take...)

the poijt remains intact. what you're daying is just the reflection of
what is, right now.

i don't (and never have) assert that what i envision (or anything close)
will happen, we just MIGHT blow ourselves to shit like we have oh so many
times before (i can't be the only one that has those vague memories, can
i?)

but defeatism is the left hand path of Pussies Everywhere (tm), and
the right hand path of Losers Like You (tm).

EXTREEM MIDDLE PATH! (methinks, perhaps, i just might embrace evil
a little more than you think or do so yourself....seek the singularity)

actually i'm jsut a realist. proably rather optimsitic, in that ir eckon it'll get worse before it gets better, and we ahve to go through that worse before we get to the better or the better won't be worth shit.

or it'll be like the future protrayed in alien and aliens. whch we're proably pretty close to already.

yuo see the thing is, They know the gaem better than Us. They knwo all teh ploys and plots, and what's worse, si every step you thionk We're taking int eh right direction, is jsut smoek and mirrors and them guiding you to where they want you. do teh opposite of what you think they will expect, adn there you are upon the path that's been already laid otu for you. it's nto a catch 22 or a tripple bind, it'sa pentuple soccerball bind ona  string. a rate maze where all roads lead to rome.

in any case, i take the uh, there is no word for it path, cuz um yeah. daulsitic is far too two dimensional.

Only, in terms of what most of us like to think of as a "system" (law, politics, social order,) it's more of a 7 year pendulum. Which means that right as you're getting hopeful, you're just about to get fucked again.

But I figure, if I'm not making any type of difference whatsoever, and I have no hope of ever doing so, at least I'm not going to go crazy sitting on my ass and worrying about "what if?"

As a wise woman once said, sometimes you have to see the pointlessness and still keep your purpose in mind. Because you have to get through the day somehow, right? Might as well do it playing whatever awful odds you were given and enjoy yourself that way. Hell, they can take whatever they want from you and own whatever parts of you they want, but there are some things they can't take. And it's those things that I think most of us librels/activists/rebel types put most stock in.  horab, I think that you were wrong when you said that there's nothing someone wouldn't do for money given the circumstances. I think most of us would do plenty, sure, but to think that there are no limits? It's been proven throughout history that people do have their personal limits, and some of them will defend those to the death if necessary. And those little shows of rebellion have had devastating effects on order before, if done at the right time and in the right place. It's not necessarily about winning, it's about knowing your limits and also knowing how far you would go to defend them, and living your life accordingly. I think if more people knew that, and DID that, things would be different right now. There's a certain freedom in that, and it's probably the only freedom that can't be taken away. Everything else is gravy, really.

Because if there's one thing about oppression, it's that it always tries to take too much. And that's when people fight back. I think it's easy to get jaded about the times we live in and think that all of this is something special and unchangeable, but the truth is that it's all been done before, and the only thing left for us to do is pick our roles and play them. Because if you've been paying attention for the past 10,000 years you know where all of this is going. The big boys might seem all-powerful and in control now, but they're fucked by history just the same. The real question is: Which team do you want to play with? How do you want to spend you little time here?

It's called a circle of influence. And right now I'm willing to bet that most of us here have a pretty small one. But so do the higher-ups, in the grand scheme of things. When you get right down to it, aren't we pretty much equal in the ways we interact and impact each other? You never know where that ripple effect is going to take something that you do. And your small influence doesn't have to stay that way, if you work hard enough and believe in what you're doing, however misguided that may be. It's not all black and white. Just because something doesn't have the social effect of an atom bomb doesn't mean that it doesn't contribute to the big picture. Hell, look at how many stupid, small destructive decisions are impacting our lives daily. There must be a flip side to that, correct?

Besides, some of the most beautiful things out there are pointless.
