Title: Dragons don't Bite
Post by: Zurtok Khan on February 27, 2006, 08:54:24 AM
Your alarm clock holds the secret you've been keeping from yourself.  You don't want to wake up.  You don't want to go through another day of fake smiles, fake laughter, a fake, badly acted, life.  But then, it is everyone else who has the life you're sure you're not leading.  A life asleep as you walk, a zombie in nice clothes making faces at all the passing cars, as monkeys hoot and howl, staring at their blinking screens processing useless information at a thousand miles a minute.

But, you, my friend, are not one of these people...are you?

What we ridicule other people for can tell us one of two things, these are the things we have seen within ourselves, the dragon we have brought down built armor of it's scales, or the things within ourselves that we are most unwilling to admit.

You have moved past the banal existence that the rest of humanity finds it's self in.  Just keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.

I'm sure dragons don't bite.  Why not place your hand inside it's mouth?

That would be a great nano-rant, if you'd leave the dragon bit out.  It goes *clunk*.  The first paragraph is priceless.

On the other hand, the very fact that we recognize the world as looking like this is far better than...uh, never mind.

I agree with Roger, on the name 'dragon'.  If you changed it to something other than dragon it would be perfect.

I hate to admit it but you had me up until just after "...are you?"

Please to avoid dragons to ensure the unhello avoidance.

Well, I do have an excuse.  I wrote this, and was about to go through and edit it before I realized that my battery had about 3 minutes left.  I will be revising.  Err, eventually.

The whole thing about dragons and mouths made me think of the Chinese proverb, "Opportunity is a dragon with a gift in its mouth." And then I remembered that I'd forgotten the rest of it... and come to think of it, I just remembered I'm playing the Game, so I lose.

At any rate... it was good until the dragons came in.

(Since I am unable to write anything good for my takehome test, I'll give you guys the revision now.)

Your alarm clock holds the secret you've been keeping from yourself. You don't want to wake up. You don't want to go through another day of fake smiles, fake laughter, a fake, badly acted, life. But then, it is everyone else who has the life you're sure you're not leading. But, you, my friend, are not one of these people...are you?

What we ridicule other people for can tell us one of two things, that we have done these things and overcome them.  Or, that we are doing these things, and they have overcome us.  A defeat by giving up is still defeat.

But, you won,Äôt admit you even fought the battle.

While great apes travel around in cars with loud engines and honking horns to travel from point A to B, yet get no where, you laugh knowing that they cannot escape the one thing they are running from, life.  You laugh, because there is nothing you are running from.  Or, so you think that there is no terror in the night, hiding in the closet you keep barred and locked from the outside.  You think that because the terror has not escaped yet that it no longer exists, that by willing it,Äôs destruction you destroy the thing.

But, you don,Äôt want to talk about the things you,Äôre trying to forget.

You know, somewhere deep and hidden, that there are things you cannot handle, you cannot bring out into the light of your consciousness and beat.  So, you tuck them away until you find the tools that will allow you to remove the guilt, but you strike only at the symptoms because you are convinced that you will never kill the disease.  Because, you are the disease, and you carry it with you at every moment.  You spread it, shit like fingerpaint on a white wall.

But, you don,Äôt want to talk about what,Äôs inside.

That,Äôs alright.  We,Äôll only think you,Äôre a pussy for a few minutes.  Then we,Äôll forget about you.

Forever.

Goodbye.

I say Merchantofalbi should get drafted.  As an officer.  So we can frag him when no-one is looking.
