Me too. Let me know when you find one. Also, be sure to pass on the immigration requirements.

I think what you're getting here, indigoblade, is a certain amount of rejection of your arrogance.  Your assumptions on what makes America vs. anywhere else a shithole seem quite myopic, and your ignorance of parts unknown is also rather overwhelming.

Do yourself a huge favor and do some research.  Read up on what other countries (westernized and non-westernized) are facing economically and socially.  As someone else stated earlier, you will undoubtedly come across the same types of problems to varying degrees, humans being pretty good for that kind of consistency.

unless you speak any other languages, you've basically limited yourself to english speaking countries there. If you go foreign with no knowledge of the native tongue, you will likely be a reject there for a really long time. One thing americans are famous for overseas is an arrogant expectation that everyone will speak english to them. so if you plan on actually MOVING to another country, do yourself a favor and learn the language before you go. that usually shows the natives that you are at least a tad more tolerable than your average american.

remember, most of the time, most places get these:

and they resent it. Hell, I'd resent it too, if I got invaded by THAT.

There is also the factor that free health care, education and so on is AFAIK only available to citizens of the country they are being given in.  So you would have to renounce your US citizenship to qualify for any of that stuff, which means you aren't american anymore so there is that problem solved.

Yes, and it's actually this aspect that made me guffaw the loudest.

There are still some countries out there (I think) whose economy is holding up reasonably and which offer their citizens awesome socialized health care and educational options. The thing to keep in mind is that those countries don't just hand out citizenships like candy. It's even hard for a USian to get into CANADA these days, for fuck sake. A strong socialized benefits system means that these countries have a vested interest in only naturalizing people who are bringing them strong assets and are not simply there to suck from the teat of the system. Some typical requirements are:

A college degree
A job already lined up in a growing field
Middle-class or higher earning potential

OR

Independent wealth enough to assure that you won't be a drain on their system.

I don't know if this is still the case, but about 5 years ago when a friend of mine wanted to move to Canada, since she didn't have a college degree, a portable business, or highly desirable job skills, she could have bypassed those requirements by having $100,000. She didn't have that, either, so she still lives in Oregon. Oh well! Canada might have been a bit of a disappointment, anyway.

all 4 of those criteria are covered in the Canadian Forces.
Who knows about the USA.

I was offered to be paid a regular force members salary, while going to college full time, which would have lasted three years.  Once I graduated, I would have been required to complete another 4 years service.  I forgot to mention that they flip the bill for everything.   (I turned that offer down to get in asap, and have my training taught military style. bah..)

Once in, there are services on base where they will look after your youngins...  they also give you one year of paternal leave..  if both husband/wife are in, that year can be split up however they feel like splitting it..

Medical care is only a doorstep away really.  walk into the hospital or dental office any morning and you will be taken care of that day.  in and out.  everything is taken care of.

and well if you've picked a trade that has interested you, you'll definitely have plenty of time to work at it.  :P

the only down side is, you'll have to be dealing with people who were crazy enough to join the military...  :P

good times.

Since he's in the US, first he would have to become a Canadian citizen.

Joining the US military wouldn't be a TERRIBLY good idea.

Be honest here....

Do you think DK would last 24 hours of boot camp?  He would be ass-raped and hog tied in a gully somewhere gagged, crying and praying for someone to find his whining ass.  He can't bring about the end of his own bullshit, let alone the end of the world.  :lulz:

It depends on which country is "your" country.

My country is "the independent republic of hurry the fuck up and burn this fucker DOWN already!" so...yeah, I'd say that pissing off Arabs (or anyone else) would pretty much be within the scope of my national interests.

Point.  But I'd rather see my country gain a little dignity and not collapse.  I know, I'm young, stupid, and idealistic.  Give me a few years.

I just LOL'd so hard that after I spit ALL my coffee out through my nose and all over the white tablecloth, I went back and brewed another cup and did it again.

I thought about moving from the US for some years... was told by others it is not much better else where. So I decided to suck it up and fix what I can here or die trying... Death will come soon I guess.

If you haven't pissed China off (and you haven't), then you're not trying hard enough.

PROTIP: call their government out on the dodgy loans used to stage their fake economic recovery.  It makes the court mandarins in both the US and China spit blood.

It should be really easy for a young man with your assets to immigrate to a socialist country with a stable economy. I understand the Netherlands will take in just about ANYONE, providing you ask nicely.

you gotta get a work permit, then a job, move in, apply for "be allowed to stay" permit (verblijfsvergunning, dunno what its called), then work for five years and then apply for citizenship.

no wait that's if you're from the EU. and if you're from the EU you dont need the work permit, afaik.

it's complicated.

I'll probably find out as soon as my gf (who is like half-German) is moving over. Being born in the Netherlands, she already got the Dutch nationality, but having lived part of her life outside NL, and some bureaucratic misinformation not yet the citizenship. It's all very confusing.

...

maybe for indigoblade, it's best is she moved to some horrible african war-ridden country, get in trouble there (shouldnt be hard), and then apply for political asylum in the Netherlands. if you can prove your life's in danger, it might speed up the process somewhat.

To clarify these are my requirements 1) free healthcare
2)free college
3)free child care
4)opprotunity to grow towards my interests

What about legal drugs and prostitution? Why aren't those on your list?  :lulz: (or are they covered in point four?)

Annoying China enough that they stop buying your currency would speed up this process massively.

Isn't the Netherlands also quite overcrowded?  Its got one of the smallest land available to population ratios in Europe, I believe, which is no doubt putting stress on housing prices, services and the immigration system, who will probably handpick those with the skills it feels the country needs and discard the rest.

Countries like France and Austria, on the other hand, seem almost underpopulated by comparison.

Oh, sure.  But that would be like chugging a bottle of 60 year old whiskey.  You could do it, but it would be wrong.  Also, I hate the Chinese, too, and want them to be hopelessly entangled with us when we sink.

I have no fear of that.  Apparently, China's factories are doing so bad and so many have shut down that the country has become a net exporter of oil.  I actually did a double take when I saw that on the news.
