You point them at what just happened in New Zealand?

That was the subject that lead to this. There’s an anonymous racist rando shitting up the place about it (and meming about that Yang guy, who was it who guessed that? I owe them some kind of money) which was the proximal topic of conversation.

I've only been yelling about this kind of shit for years. In 2015 I wrote an article about how the schema of "extremist preachers" so often applied to Muslim terrorists applies even more accurately to the internet and far-right extremism, especially with regards to the strategy of "leaderless resistance".

Believe me, I know. I still recommend your Fascist Virus series to folks every so often.

We are all right there with you, my friend. Shit sucks. Being genuinely the only sane man in the room sucks the fucking worst. The told you so can be fun, if the target realizes you’re actually right, but here we are.

I just woke up and the New Zealand thing was on the front page of Yahoo. Sounds like at least one of the shooters was also shooting video at the same time, like a GoPro or something. Sounds like they're trying to prevent people from spreading and sharing it.

You know it's funny I almost woke up and said...  The words. The Eriss words that made LMNO write those amazing and horrific shorts. You know THOSE WORDS.

In brighter news I finished my early morning bombing run of various Facebook groups and Pages for Holy Nonsense. Already getting a few little replies here and there. Guess we'll see how things turn out!

Yes there’s online footage of the event as well as a manifesto. I have a copy of the latter but I’m at work. I have not seen the former yet but it has been described as quite horrific and brutal, even by seasoned terrorism scholars (one I know, who has dealt extensively with ISIS, said he felt sick seeing the footage)

The sickness is both intensifying and spreading. I would be very interested to hear your thoughts on the manifesto whenever you get a chance. Failing that pm me a link or similar and I'll read it myself. As for the video I've seen enough horrific shit in my life. I don't need any more nightmare fuel. Got plenty.

I don’t necessarily want to see it per se...but seeing how they handle their weapons may give an indication as to their level of training, which may yield other avenues of investigation.

Most jihadis handle their weapons like shit, incidentally. You always know when a terrorist group is getting dangerous, they start aiming down the sights and pacing their shots to conserve ammunition

While back I saw a news special on atomwaffen. There was a segment where investigators interviewed the owner of a specialty shooting club that atomwaffen members had used for practice. I was concerned on two major accounts. One the owner had no idea what atomwaffen was, and two it meant that they were going for specialized shooting classes.

What country I live in! Here you can be armed and tactically trained for the right price and nobody is likely to ask questions, they'll just take your money and go about their business

Split and moved for better topicality and not to spag up OB.

If the other two arrested were also part of this plot, this could get a whole lot bigger.

(Edit: wow, 1st time i get teleported to another subforum feelsweird)

It's 74 pages.  If you PM me an email I can forward it on to you, though I would ask that it not be shared with the public at large (and the same offer, with that caveat, goes for everyone else here I've known long enough to trust).

There are already a few analyses of it online, I think Bellingcat got it mostly right by pointing out that this is a manifesto with shitposting - the shitposting is a trap to mislead and delegitimise the media even further.

we've had to mute #discord (except for regulars), due to a very dedicated 8chantard who really wants to push buttons today

every time there's something explosive in the news, this cat has to come in under an anon nick and spread chantrash. about once every 2-3 months, he shows up for 15-20 minutes late at night to call "the left" a bunch of hypocrites. He seems to have an unusually large stinkbug up his ass today. ayy

I just read the Bellingcat article Cain suggested, and that unusual level of activity would be because one of his people did it. The murderer was an 8chan user who posted about the act before he committed it.

Which makes me even more certain that user is a potential menace and even more pissed off that two regs in the channel acted like I was being a hysterical child about it when I said we should ban fnords again or mute the channel.

After reading the Bellingcat article some stuff comes to mind:

-Throughout the day i usually pop into 9gag (an infinite page of memes) and ive been doing so for a long time, like 7 years maybe... it used to actually be funny and informative of current issues, but at some point, like a swarm of hungry locusts descending upon it, the site got taken over and became the nesting grounds for a type of racist/sexist right wing group of incels with no clear affiliations besides being scum...

The interesting thing about this nesting grounds is that they are there not to do politics, they are there "to have fun" and "share memes", but i think its easy to understand that one persons humour is not anothers... the point is that, in that site with so so many users, sexism and racism and right wing logic become normalized...

4chan is more of a ghetto of basement dwellers with a very niche and small population, but the same ideological currents can be seen in a more mainstream website like 9gag - which to me its a type of diagnostic of whats floating around the internet nowadays and what is "normal".

The same ideological currents can be seen everywhere that isn’t heavily policed to kill that shit before it takes root.   But 9gag is a decent barometer.

74 pages.  Called "The Great Replacement".  Usual conspiracy bullshit about the Jews out to destroy civilization using brown immigrants.

The same ideological currents can be seen everywhere that isn’t heavily policed to kill that shit before it takes root.   But 9gag is a decent barometer.

Hear here the "voice of the people", transcribed directly from the 9gag comment section of a certain post with someone holding a poster saying "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. -Voltaire" regarding the shooting:

"fits very well with socialism and communism"

"How come there is never so much attention when a muslim blows himself up or runs people over?"
"media doesnt want to come off as racist"

"and how is one to know what are absurdities and what arent?"

"kinda like <<police out there killing Black People>>. Basicly the concept of the lefts victim mentality."

"Voltaire was an anti-semite"

So in resume, the responses (so far): using the shooting as an excuse to bash socialism/communism; to supposedly denounce a muslim-biased media; to bash the left and the media for black-bias... etc, etc... so nevermind all the dead, this is a perfect opportunity for everyone to promote their own personal right-wing agenda.

Whoops. Second page of posts wasn't showing when I replied.

A friend of mine who is paid to look at this sort of trash described it as "74 pages of Alex Jones and Richard Spencer," and, "Horrifying yet incredibly tedious."

There is definitely a lot being kept back there. Strong hints that they know there is some sort of connection to the “main” shooting, but the talk about it is all “Muslim man shoots back” and “oh, well, it happened”.

My guess, they got evidence of something real scary and are playing it close to the vest to see if they can catch other people involved. Note there’s been no “all clear” yet in the area. In fact, the fact that they arrested four people and still didn’t say it was safe to go about your day afterward is telling, I think, since you tend to want to reassure people fast after this sort of thing.

I gather one person has been released, and the other two are being considered as potential accomplices before the fact.

I’m not as up to date as I would like, so I’m sure you’re right. Interesting, though. I assume number 4 is presumed to be active shooter #2? I wonder about the accomplices. I’ll need to keep an eye on this.

I finally found an article that outlined everything clearly, not in half mentions, earlier today and I need to correct my above statement due to an updated understanding of things.

One active shooter, two potential accomplices in custody; one apparently unconnected person caught but let go. Earlier reports mentioned 4 people arrested, three arrested and one presumptive shooter dead, and a whole bevy of other bad info. I’m pretty sure this is the correct story now.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/gunman-advanced-zealand-mosque-1-man-ran-him-092301154.html

Quote

Aziz said as he ran outside screaming, he was hoping to distract the attacker. He said the gunman ran back to his car to get another gun, and Aziz hurled the credit card machine at him.

He said he could hear his two youngest sons, aged 11 and 5, urging him to come back inside.

The gunman returned, firing. Aziz said he ran, weaving through cars parked in the driveway, which prevented the gunman from getting a clean shot. Then Aziz spotted a gun the gunman had abandoned and picked it up, pointed it and squeezed the trigger. It was empty.

He said the gunman ran back to the car for a second time, likely to grab yet another weapon.

"He gets into his car and I just got the gun and threw it on his window like an arrow and blasted his window," he said.

The windshield shattered: "That's why he got scared."

He said the gunman was cursing at him, yelling that he was going to kill them all. But he drove away and Aziz said he chased the car down the street to a red light, before it made a U-turn and sped away. Online videos indicate police officers managed to force the car from the road and drag out the suspect soon after.

Quote
Aziz said he didn't feel fear or much of anything when facing the gunman. It was like he was on autopilot. And he believes that God, that Allah, didn't think it was his time to die.

That's what I'm talkin about! When the shit hits the fan react like a madman. There is no thought or premeditation to it. You just retaliate.

Also :lulz: for excellent use of a credit card machine!

Guess I found out why there was such a difference in death toll.

The veracity of the attribution of motives that made the shooter run away, nobody knows what was going on in his mind.

He really doesn't look like he's smiling. Then again it's kind of hard to tell with jowls like that.
