So to clarify - I was thinking at the time that I should just take my leave now, "on top" so to speak, because I'm up to my eyeballs in woo and I like it that way, and I think time I spend here would be an exercise in masochism.

Which of course should spawn a bunch of "so why the fuck are you posting here?" responses.

And the answer is cuz I like you. And I am also one of the eeevil MLAers and I think you have an inaccurate perception of us as a whole.  But I also know that I will get ripped a new one here, repeatedly, and I don't think I'm up for it.  Some of the time I will be up for it and have fun and the other times I will cry and curse and hate you all.  So I'm askin myself - am I up for it, or shall I just go back to lurking?

Thanks for the hello and the welcome. I still remember seeing you as a mellow one from my foray here a couple of years ago.

Now, I am one individual who gets what you're saying.  I know the fuel of anger. I also do not forget that the goddess we're "worshipping" here is no fluff-bunny.  And I will cop to being a bliss ninny at times, when I'm not busy causing trouble.

What I was trying (and failed) to address with that sentence was what I saw as crazy whacked-out anger directed at people who really didn't have it coming.  So when I talked about missing the joke and laughing, I wasn't trying to say "in order to be a discordian you have to laff all the time" or ANYTHING like that. I should have been clearer with my language, because what I really wanted to say was "Roger why are you so pissed off and shitting all over us when we should be friends?"

But WHATEVER!  Misunderstanding is a calling card of chaos, no?  You know, I like you guys. I really do.  And I'd rather not feel like we are on opposite sides when we're not.

I found it funny because you seemed to equate our vitriol with seriousness.  I don't know about everyone else, but I personally laugh a lot, and find the world endlessly amusing.  However, I can still call someone a douchebag fuckface.  It is possible to be angry and amused at the same time... at least it is for me...

Well, fair enough.  I too am capable of saying "fuck you" with a smile.

I AM an MLA folk, but I've actually had the principiadiscordia.com website bookmarked for at least a year... and dear BogusMagus led me over to this forum via his posts on MLA about this place.  

As for how I knew Bob... the MLA had just started, Bob participated directly on the forum and in classes, and I got brave and asked him to officiate my wedding (not realizing the state of his health).  He politely declined but invited me to the Wednesday book nights at his place, since I live close to Santa Cruz.  I visited him sporadically until about 4 months before his death.


As for Aeris, lots of FF fanboys call her Aerith, which always makes me think that they've all got lisps... or should that be lithps?

Actually, Mourning Star, you may have been just bullshitting about how RAW pronounced Eris, but you were spot on - he did say Air-Reese, basically.  He also pronounced PD "Prinkipia Discordia."  Heard it with me own ears, I did...

But I still say "air-is" and "Prinsipia"... I loved that old man Papa Bob, but I liked my pronunciations better... and besides, I got the impression he really didn't like people thinking or saying things just cuz he did... I remember him telling me once, with a rather serious look on his face, "one should remember that 'fan' is short for 'fanatic.'"
