It's funny how the position for boot-licking is so close to the one used for curb-stomping.

On a more serious note:

Edit: jeez wtf is wrong with these smilies anyways that :P is supposed to be a =P

I've often thought the  :p looked more like a :D than a :p.  I suggest that to remedy this we change it like so:

rofl, agreed.

This is not a criticism, this is an observation:

You seem to have an idea that who you "are" is a fixed thing, and our behavior and thoughts and beliefs are somehow separate from this core thing.

Further, if one's perceptions changes one's thoughts, and one's thoughts change one's behavior, that is only an external process, and the core thing remains as it was.

I tend to think in more integrated terms, that the "is" tends to be more malleable, and while perceptions are filtered, if the thoughts and behaviors change because of that, the "is" changes as well.

^^ requote as a bump

i am in process

i am located in space and time (not just space)

it often makes more sense to ask where i am than who i am

i iz plural

i iz a liquid, external forces are the container, the shape of the container is the winnar of those 2 forces pressing upon eachother, enlightening stuff is like a tap which drips into me more and expands the container.... no im not stoned.. honest

edit: this metaphor isnt too hot is it! ah well :D

i iz also what you say i iz as well as what i say i iz, much to my distaste

France is cool, it's just Paris you gotta watch out for.  Buncha jerks.

Sez you.

The last Frenchie I hated was actually not even French, but a French speaking Swiss girl. Apparently just learning that language makes you an asshole.
i have thought much on this topic (i know a few languages - ooh go me=P)... the associations in language are very real for those that 'live' inside the framework, and come to the conclusion that yes. this is true.

people who are inside french are indeed assholes!

While you're at it, never use sarcasm to convey the message that some n00bs get bent out of shape before they learn our social dynamic, and end up feeling bullied and rejected because of their own unfamiliarity.
shall i use the teacher-pupil metaphor instead?

i already got told im too random.. and i dont make sense =S

That would discourage me, too.

Thankfully I have consistent views, never ruffle anyones feathers, and am always nice and helpful to my fellow posters.
bah, im not discouraged (it takes a lot).

people seem inconsistent when you dont know them.

Lies, you don't need padding - you have been here long enough to have a front line defense.

if you mean by that, that others will spring to my defense when i get called on arguing dumb shit, that's not the case.

they'll kick my ass.
ill believe it when i see it

we're not really a blind family here, quickly changing the subject as the aunt makes a racist remark during dinner.

(btw i don't wanna compare your remark to racism, not even "dumb shit", but it was pretty thoughtless--happens to all but the best of us ;-) )

perfectionism doesnt work for me anyways..

Quote from: Ratatosk on April 22, 2008, 07:24:23 PMSo in short. Some people will read the Principia Discordia and say "Ah! Discordian's Must Eat Hot Dogs on Friday with no Bun. Ah! Discordians Must see 5's. Ah! Discordians must believe in Creative Disorder over Destructive Disorder." Some people will read the BiP and say "Ah! We ARE trapped in a prison. Ah! There IS no real Freedom!"  No matter what any of us write, if it is compelling, if the model appears useful... then some people will forget that it is just a model, just a metaphor, just an idea... and instead Believe it to be True. The Pentabarf was a meme that symbolized a concept, just as The Law of Fives was a meme that symbolized a concept... so too is the BiP a meme that symbolizes a concept. Yet, there are Discordians today that BELIEVE the Law of Fives, or the 23 enigma... and someday there may well be Discordians (or post-Discordians or whatever) that read the BiP and believe it, rather than considering it a useful model.

see my little writing three levels of discordia (the title should actually say "layers" btw, "levels" gives the wrong idea).

that damned 3 layered holy trinity/social structure thing crops up again.. gief 4.567 layers, not to be confusing (would i ever do that eris?) but just for a giggle.

(awaits serious comments about being too 'random', and how this sorta shit isnt intelligent and doesnt help anyone :p)

this is one of the reasons why the "awakening" has to be done one by one. you need to engage them in discussion, get feedback, just throwing some writing at them simply cannot work, even if they don't mistake the menu for the meal, it only really starts to work once you bounce those ideas off of others.
agree

also, on a similar subject, remember our discussion on #discord yesterday? maybe you can post a little summary about what i said on where we (supposedly) scare away n00bs by denouncing the PD :)
partly because it's relevant, and partly because seeing which bits stuck with you show me how clear i stated my arguments.

denouncing the pd i would consider a harsh way of putting it, i think locating the pd chronologically seems more accurate.

Actually, I was attempting to be kind.

Because if you're an actual adult, and you still post this completely stupid shit, well... That's not something you should be too proud of.

Thanks I already edited the post... shit happens, I just feel a bit trampled upon. I found this forum. looked at it for a while. decided it might be cool to join in. and well, you saw what happened.

I've probably done more than you, kid.

Next question.
I appreciate your quick remark, and honestly - you people may have taken me a little too seriously.. (I wasnt even refering to you with my post)

But I seriously doubt you have done less drugs than me.

And thanks for calling me a kid, please - feel free to guess my age.

SRSLY tho, I hear a lot along the lines of "but what if they take that the wrong way" and I'm thinking fuck dilluting our shit for the slow readers. The slow readers are what we should be laughing at, not trying to help
I agree and disagree with this on many levels... but does it mean that we would be preeching to the converted if we laughed at people who didnt understand?

If its not 'preeching' thats actually going on then it must just be 'conversation'?
