That line from the father's song in Mary Poppins, where he's going on about how nothing can go wrong, in Britain in 1910.  That's about the point I realized the boy was gonna die in a trench.

I suspect this to be true, however, I have allowed myself to be talked into going to Burning Man this year so I can find out for myself.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of stories led you to being talked into attending? I am currently being abused by one of my friends who is saying how he has heard (nice right?) that it is the greatest thing ever, etc. etc. on and on.. my friend however is prone to extreme states of intoxication which lead to violence and sodomy. I am more laid back and like my sodomy with a hefty dose of love and so i'm not sure that i should be led down this path with him. I have been to the site and read what i can, and it sounds nice, but i would like to hear what convinced you to attend..

On a separate note, has anyone ever tried ketamine?
carry on.

And yes, sometimes there are good reasons for this, like say, those fuckers want to kill us all, but in that case, the *other* side has to engage in sheep hate.
IMO unless you have met, face to face, any person that you have decided to hate, and judged them to be worthy of said hate, then  you are a participator of this "sheep hate." For it is easy to say that our side is always right, and much harder to see their side.. It's all bullshit opinions in the end. (like my post)

But you know what else is broken?  Broad-brush characterizations.
Well said.

Have you all seen the delectable film sean of the dead? It is such a great picture of humanity up until the point when they knock the "drunk chick" onto the poll.. Anyways, for some reason this thread brought that to my mind.. bravo indeed... encore

After posting previously I underwent a period of introspection and I believe that I may have been a bit hypocritical. To knowingly participate in a system that is schewed and twisted is not so much putting the proverbial "head in the sand" but is more like this:

I believe that in the end it is really a difference of viewpoints. I choose to be more of an optimist, thought I don't, for the record, believe that our government has the best in mind for us or that the system works the way it should. I do however choose to believe that I can do some good by using the system in ways that benefit me and my own. In the end I guess, to each his own and all that jazz.

True: the system is corrupt
True: politicians are swine
True: we are goverened by bastards
Fact: this is the situation we have on our hands
Qustion: what to do about?
Is the answer to put our head in the ground and ignore everything or to use the government for our own means? At the very least don't wait to write Down with DC on the cell wall, write it on an overpass.

Here is an interesting link to the Army's Psychological Operations Field Manual. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/546409/posts It is too easy to draw parallels between the techniques and our governments actions. Nice read BTW
