:mittens: I love Neutral Milk Hotel.
True legends in their own right!  I had the opportunity to see them all together last October for the Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise show.
It was fantastic!  Jeremy was with Hawk and a Hacksaw, Scott Spillane played some Gerbils songs, Jeff Mangum sang with the
Circulatory System and played Engine.  Everyone was involved.  If you're familiar with their friends' from Athens, they were pretty
much all there, except the Visitations and Of Montreal.  Visitations didn't find out about the show in time and Of Montreal is just... well
they seem to be off doing other things now.

One thing I don't get about Jeff though.  Why is it that whenever he pops up anymore, he just plays old songs?  I sort of had the impression
he wanted to get away from all the hype of their early days.

Neutral Milk Hotel's "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea"

What a beautiful face
I have found in this place
That is circling all round the sun
What a beautiful dream
That could flash on the screen
In a blink of an eye and be gone from me
Soft and sweet
Let me hold it close and keep it here with me, me

And one day we will die
And our ashes will fly from the aeroplane over the sea
But for now we are young
Let us lay in the sun
And count every beautiful thing we can see
Love to be
In the arms of all I'm keeping here with me, me

What a curious life we have found here tonight
There is music that sounds from the street
There are lights in the clouds
Anne's ghost all around
Hear her voice as it's rolling and ringing through me
Soft and sweet
How the notes all bend and reach above the trees, trees

Now how I remember you
How I would push my fingers through
Your mouth to make those muscles move
That made your voice so smooth and sweet
Now we keep where we don't know
All secrets sleep in winters clothes
With one you loved so long ago
Now he don't even know his name

What a beautiful face
I have found in this place
That is circling all round' the sun
And when we meet on a cloud
I'll be laughing out loud
I'll be laughing with everyone I see
Can't believe how strange it is to be anything at all

(Tom Waits/K. Brennan)  "I Don't Wanna Grow Up"

When I'm lyin' in my bed at night
I don't wanna grow up
Nothin' ever seems to turn out right
I don't wanna grow up
How do you move in a world of fog
That's always changing things
Makes me wish that I could be a dog
When I see the price that you pay
I don't wanna grow up
I don't ever wanna be that way
I don't wanna grow up

Seems like folks turn into things
That they'd never want
The only thing to live for
Is today
I'm gonna put a hole in my TV set
I don't wanna grow up
Open up the medicine chest
And I don't wanna grow up
I don't wnna have to shout it out
I don't want my hair to fall out
I don't wanna be filled with doubt
I don't wanna be a good boy scout
I don't wanna have to learn to count
I don't wanna have the biggest amount
I don't wanna grow up

Well when I see my parents fight
I don't wanna grow up
They all go out and drinking all night
And I don't wanna grow up
I'd rather stay here in my room
Nothin' out there but sad and gloom
I don't wanna live in a big old Tomb
On Grand Street

When I see the 5 o'clock news
I don't wanna grow up
Comb their hair and shine their shoes
I don't wanna grow up
Stay around in my old hometown
I don't wanna put no money down
I don't wanna get me a big old loan
Work them fingers to the bone
I don't wanna float a broom
Fall in and get married then boom
How the hell did I get here so soon
I don't wanna grow up

Anything by James Joyce (and by anything, I mean Finnegan's Wake and Portrait of a Artist as a Young Man) is not worth reading.
You could be horribly mistaken.

I kind of thought this was going somewhere, but then it took a hard left turn and lost me.  I think this would be better if people weren't invited to do dumb things in the game, however amusing it might be to read; the idea started out with potential to create fun in someone's day.
