Also, if you go hardcopy, do not exceed 52 pages.  Trust me on this one...As that is the last "comic" size.  Then it goes to trade paperback, and if you're only going over by a couple of pages, you're going to get raped by the printer in a manner that will leave your colon the size of the lincoln tunnel.  Also, if you're going color, keep a copy of the black & whites, as color printing is EXPENSIVE AS HELL, and - here's the kicker - doesn't change the sale price on the indy market.

First we were thinking about using the "Bonelli" model (96 pages, b&w - pretty much the italian average) but we're not even sure we're going to sell it in paperback: a work like the one we have in mind is probably not what Italian editors want (I'm not complaining, that's just how it seems to work - and our idea is kinda weird). The drawers are doing it for passion and just in a second time we talked about actually selling it on the market and not just putting it online as "a thing we did for Discordian fun". Make a 96 page comic to sell out of this idea may be cool, but risky and expensive. Make a Discordian comic book and give it to the people online may be way more fun and way less constrictive (we can insert our photos, memes, posters and writings as we like, just to say one thing).

That being said, nothing is sure right now, so...

What if I open a topic about it to accept advices and thoughts about how to make it and give it away (such as: "Might a "Et Cetera Discordia"-like distribution work?")?
If you want, I mean - that would be really helpful.

Sorry, sorry, we were saying the same thing, I think. And it's just a project started last week, so until a few months it will be all elusive just as the word "that"... Then we'll magically make it work.
Now I'm going back to work, or it will never be done...

I'm writing just page 23 (no, really) and the comic will have 55 pages (yeah, really), so it's going to take a lot of time to be made.

Piece of advice, if you intend to print the comic as a booklet, the number of pages will need to be a multiple of 4 (including the front and the back cover).

(since you get a stack of papers folded in half and stapled in the middle, your number of pages will always be a multiple of 4)

Ok, that would need an explanation. 55 pages of comic, plus 5 pages of professional photos with models and stuff, plus "x" pages of quotes from the Principia Discordia, plus "x" pages of Pope Cards and similar...

Take a normal piece of paper, 8.5x11.  Fold it in half, so it's now 8.5x5.5.  That's how they bind the pages.  one sheet, four panels/pages.

So, the book should be a multiple of 4.  You can get a bunch of sheets of paper and fold them the same way to check.

4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68...

I wasn't asking for an explanation, I was giving one...

It sounds like you're including miscellaneous filler material, so you can probably make that strecth to fit.

Yeah, that's the plan...

The "Dreamcatcher" by Stephen King may help you in this case, I think.

Yeah, it's a Discordian comic. I mean, a Discordian epic. Some friend of mine and I decided to try making this, and then we'll see what to do with it.
I'm writing it both in italian and in english, so you may enjoy it (if we put it online) in a few months...

Anyway, I'll talk about it when it's a little less "a project" and a little more "a thing".
And you know too much about it. I may have to kill you all...

EDIT: This is also totally OT. Sorry about that.

Do you mind if I use some of that shit in a comic I'm writing?

Of course, you'll be in the credits.

Our Lady of Perpetual Confusion is my business name, you are not to use that or the logo under any circumstances. Eris is My Homegirl is released under Creative Commons, I reserve the right to see the artwork of your comic before pressing to ensure proper credit is made. That's all I ask.

The Team Tucson/Providence shit and Spag is free to use.

Of course. Right.

Oh, i'll buy one of those t-shirts one day, too.

Grant Morrison said it, years ago.
He was right. Obviously. I mean, he's Grant Morrison.

Wait, what'd he say? Refresh my memory.

In an interview (I can't remember which one, but I think you could find it in the Internet), he said that in these years there would actually be a few superheroes (and that they'll be even more in the future). And he was right, even if his idea was a little more "supernatural" than this.

QuoteWhat gives my life significance?

Beauty.  Truth.

And extended oral pleasure.
I really like that.
I'm that kind of kid full of fear who easily falls into metaphysical arguments and shit, but...
Beauty, good stories, sex, love, and wonder. Not necessarily in this order.

I didn't write here in a while - studies, writing, language troubles and stuff like that made me lazy. Anyway, it seems I'll have a few more free hours in the first days of 2011, so, here is a little thing I made today. Enjoy.

Principia Discussion / Re: Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy

That's pretty cool. Thanks, Cramulus.
And: lots of people know that when they find out coincidences-that-look-like-something-meaningful, they're making up an order from coincidences-that-are-coincidences. They know that in theory.
But when actually involved in a "conspiracy theory" or something like that, notice that most of them forget about the theory and go on thinking and talking about the lenght of the Missisipi River that is 1/666 of the number of tiles on the floor of that room in the White House vel similia. Because, obviously, they want to find the Devil/the Conspiracy/God/the Sasquatch (or the God of Sasquatches, that would be original). Emotionally, they are sure of what they'll find. Logic follows the lead easily.
As King Mob said in Grant Morrison's masterpiece, "The Invisibles": "They are all coincidences. Like the coincidence of the light that comes when you push the button."
(The quote is not like that, I translated it from my Italian comic book, and with an horrible language, so forgive me and try to understand its meaning anyway, thank you)

Ok, i made them with Paint, so don't look too much to my weak graphic skills, they're just little ideas for now... I don't think they are a problem with copyrights, right?
