So I'm the only one reading this and thinking it's the result of a badly handled overreaction to a misunderstanding?

Yeah?

Okay then.

I have a feeling it's pretentious even if it is your thing.

Maybe. I'd consider that a matter of opinion.

Taking a second crack at Gravity's Rainbow.

The first time I tried to read it, I got about 200 pages in then met a 8-page 1-paragraph solid brick wall of text. So I started reading Perdido Street Station instead.

I think Gravity's Rainbow's writing and characters are really quite good, just that the pacing is a bit grating sometimes. I could see it coming off as pretentious if it isn't your thing.

I was going to post this but you already beat me to it. A friend of mine IRL made that app. The sticker: He doesn't even play D&D.

By the way, if you haven't checked up on it in a bit have another look. He's been updating it quite frequently, and he has a steady influx of new tilesets.

Also has a Like page on Facebook, if you're into that sort of thing. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Daves-Mapper/180436275332928

Double edit: http://www.davesmapper.com/  It'll be relocating to its own domain soon.

Anyone taken a look at Pokemon Tabletop Adventures? Mechanically it's a lot like 4e in that moves work just like Powers (at-will... daily...etc) and it follows a more Gamist tone. I don't particularly like 4e for that reason, but I think that in P:TA it works quite well since, Pokemon is, well, a video game. The classes include a holy avatar of legendary Pokemon that can worship Missingno and get item-duplicating abilities. Each time he uses them, he risks being glitched out of reality forever, treated like he never even existed. If that isn't enough to pique your interest, I don't know what is.

You mean, do I have a problem with people calling attractive naked women whores?

Why yes, yes I do.  Not only is it inaccurate and not particularly clever, I happen to like looking at attractive naked women.

Quote from: LMNO, PhD on March 17, 2011, 12:00:27 PMBut keep in mind, the fact that she look(ed) fantastic naked and offered evidence to that many times has absolutely no bearing on her completely retarded conclusions regarding vaccination and autism.  Nor does it make you a whore.

Granted, it seemed as good an insult as any at the time.

Does that strike a nerve with you or something?

Can you think of a better negative example of extreme dogmatism? Nietzsche said, "The most perfidious way of harming a cause consists of defending it deliberately with faulty arguments." (I like to throw around Nietzsche quotes because I'm an intellectual superman) The WBC intentionally martyrs itself as the targets of our hatred, there's no doubting that. If they wanted their opinions to be taken into serious consideration they'd sit down for a cup of tea or write a book. Instead they parade about with signs that might as well say "HATE US" and "RELIGION IS BAD."
Consider the following.

The WBC are the most brilliant, dedicated trolls on the face of the Earth. Think of all they've given up for the sake of tarnishing the face of fundamentalist Christianity. I'm thinking of sending them a cake. I know they won't eat it, but maybe they'll appreciate the thought. <3

I wrote an essay about this bullshit a few years ago. That Playboy whore fills me with rage. I'm not even sure how I managed to finish the paper having never used the phrase "Playboy whore."

EDIT: Btw, I heard the guy who wrote the original study linking Autism to vaccines was prosecuted for having falsified information or something. But what the hell do I know?

This is the best JRPG of all time. OF ALL TIME!

I was moved passion, to tears, by the depth of its' brilliant, dramatic, Shakespearean plot. But most of all, it made me realize how much my  life is like a B-Ball--constantly on the up and down...being passed between fickle divine entities...and that sometimes, all you have to do is shut up and jam.

Really, making sure everyone participates and has a good time is trickier to pull off than you might imagine. For example, half my group (and I) prefer roleplay / problem-solving adventures, while one just wants to murder shit and another is kind of reserved and needs to be thrust into the spotlight in order to have fun. So it's a tricky balancing act. Lengthy combat sessions bore a couple players, lengthy roleplay bores a couple more. Variation is key in such a diverse group, but more single-minded groups I'd imagine it's not as much of an issue.

Our last session went by without any combat at all. While everyone else found something awesome to do (the rogue Magnificent Bastarding himself into becoming a high profile celebrity's drugdealer... the transmutationist and sorcerer conjuring ritual magic to save the airship they were aboard from dropping), after seducing a worker to get aboard the damn airship in the first place (yeah he's that guy) he was kind of non-participative for the rest of the session.

Also, may I say, good sir, that your game sounds completely apeshit bananas and seems like a lot of fun.

It was a good session. :D I might post the story sometime. The next session is going to be horror-themed, and if it goes half as well as I have it prepped the players should be shitting their pants and their characters should be rolling fright checks high enough to develop permanent mental disadvantages (running GURPS).
