Testimonial - Well it seems that most of you "discordians" are little more than dupes of the Cathedral/NWO memetic apparatus after all -- "freethinkers" in the sense that you are willing to think slightly outside the designated boxes of correct thought, but not free in the sense that you reject the existence of the boxes and seek their destruction.

Fun trivia: Sean Connery was, at one point, offered the role for Gandalf in Lord of the Rings, but he turned it down due to reportedly "not understanding the story".

And yet, he had no problems doing Zardoz.

Possibly the story didn't involve him hitting enough women?

ZARDOZ.

Dammit I still haven't seen Zardoz. It looks epic. I just got a box set of 50s science fiction films. So far I've only watched This Island Earth. Tarantula! is next  :D

I've heard of Liquid Sky but I haven't seen it. Fantastic Planet has a great soundtrack too. Also, Forbidden Zone. Good god Forbidden Zone.

You're goddamn right about the creepiness though.

It is slow paced I'll admit but that is for the purpose of creating atmosphere, which it does excellently.

Also thanks for the links Triple Zero. I'm reading them now.

The Medford Shmoos were a bunch of aliens claimed to have been seen in presumably one of the two Medfords you're talking about. They got called that because they sort of resembled the shmoos from the Lil' Abner comics.

To be clear- I am not from there.

If this is your first forum, how do you know that "n00b" is the proper spelling of the slur for new people? :?

Noob is a pretty common word around the internet. It's pretty difficult to avoid hearing... er, reading. I was just trying to make it clear how ignorant of forum etiquette I am. In retrospect using '0''s instead of 'o''s was a bit much.

Also, nice to internet meet you! :)

I agree with everything said here, except for

Quote9/11, like the Holocaut, has been built up into a monument of Absolute Evil.

this made me confused, because genocide, apart from being mind-blowingly, uncomprehendingly huge in most average people's terms, is very evil.

9/11, while a horrific stunt made by people who are/were stupid monkeys, and yeah it was also bad, I don't really get why it is considered a lesson of Absolute Evil.

And I'm just saying this knowing that I'm aware evils large and small are happening every day by people everywhere, and I most likely won't hear about them until I start digging around in the history mud myself.

What's being articulated is the difference between the attacks of 9.11 and "9/11"

The holocaust of the Second World War and "The Holocaust"

When an event gets simplified into a ten second soundbite that resembles a Hollywood cliche,  we can no longer learn from our past because it's not just the past; it's a symbol of GOOD vs EVIL.

That's what that's all about.

I agree. Ideas about abstract good and evil can become quite dangerous, I think. If Group A are inherently good and Group B are inherently evil then neither has any moral responsibility or choice. If we demonize nazis are terrorists i.e. make them into something more than 'ordinary people' then we also exaggerate the actual amount of power they have. They're not supermen or monsters. They're human beings. The holocaust and 9/11 are both things that humans are capable of. I notice that people tend to get very touchy if you point this out. It's much nicer to believe that we could never be capable of similar atrocities, that we wouldn't even have to make a choice. Anyway, sorry if this is getting slightly off topic.

I'm new around these parts and this is my first forum so I'm still figuring out how everything works. So if I display an unusual amount of stupidity please bear with me. I'll learn. RWHN I agree completely with your post.

But since you are apparently from Crumpetland and probably don't even know what Medford is, we'll let it slide. :lulz:

Is it a place?

I am from England although crumpets aren't as popular as they once were, sadly. They are great though.

Hey there. I'm new and this is my first internet forum. Pleased to meet you all :)

Since I am a huge n00b is there anything I should know? For instance, what sort of behavior will lead to banned-ness, that sort of thing.
