Apple Talk / Re: So Just Exactly What ARE We Doing, Anyway?
« on: January 26, 2011, 11:15:40 pm »
Going back to Rog's original post:

I find myself diametrically opposed to the idea of getting on board any organized, deliberate, common agenda. Don't care if other people do so, as long as they respect that I can't do it.

However, I like the idea of a framework to help board members with their individual ideas and projects...provided there's no pressure either way.

As for my own agenda...Liam and I plan to take over the world.

Edited to add:  Oops! I spoke too soon. I plan to take over the world.

Liam, on the other hand, just informed me that all he is wants to blow up huge chunks of it and have the rest of it closely monitored by closed tv circuits and robot drones. He also says he agrees with Nigel. Everyone getting together for a common agenda is how lynch mobs start.

Except that we aren't getting together for a common agenda, necessarily.  I'm thinking of this as more of a co-op.  And I doubt we'll be running off to lynch anyone.

I can see myself in a cooperative venture. :)

Sometimes.

If I feel like it and no one expects it of me.

At least until I'm running the world.

so, uh, yeah, keep that whacky whacky outlandish flag of discord flying fellas and ladies.

{edit}

anyone wants the domain hit me or my wife up on facebook or whatever, and its all yours.

Woo. Yeah. 23ZomgpIneal~! Stoke your fnords and whatnot. Laters.

Okay, the bar and grill has a new home and will be moving house again soon!  I'm very pleased that Captain Utopia has offered to both host and manage the forums.  Liam and Dan and I are going to be doing a little housecleaning, after which we'll unadmin ourselves and hand over the keys.

EB&G has been dying a slow and painful death for a while now and I'm hoping that this change will give the forums a much needed jump start.  Thank you all for your kind words in this thread and for saving so much material from the Bar and Grill - I appreciate you guys. And now Liam and my sister, Zorga, and I are going out to eat Thai food and get roaring drunk in honor of the Bar and Grill's second shot at life. :)

I just checked out the attic and the thread's not there, and I can't find it anywhere on the fourms, either. It's almost certainly gone. I'm sorry.

I can't seem to find the pun thread over there.  Did it get deep sixed?  Were they THAT bad?

They were terrible!

Seriously, tho...Liam did some semi-drunken housekeeping a little while back and I don't know if he moved that thread to the archives or if he deep sixed it.

This is why he isn't allowed to wash the dishes when he's drunk. He's sick in bed and sound asleep right now, but I'll ask him when he wakes up, okay?

Man. I've already ripped one book to shreds, cutting out the pictures, an sticking em on things.

I'd advise anyone who was considering purchasing one, to buy three, two for cutting, one for keeping.

Yeah, awesome book. Liam loved the graphics best, and I like the writing best, but it's all good.

Verthaine also has some great material in the Confrontation Corner, as well. Most of it was aimed at the folks from TCC and MW a lot of it is in other people's threads.  If I can think of any other good places to mine for his stuff, I'll post it here.

As I said in the other thread, I have saved everything from the lecturn over at the bar and grill (bella and liam, sorry about mining the site).
The link to everything from that specific forum is
http://www.filesonic.com/file/61001913/The_Lecturn.zip

No problem, Faust. We're hoping everybody takes the time to mine whatever they'd like to save. That's why we gave a couple of months notice. :)

The domain's good until April 5th.

That's a little longer than I thought, and it should give everybody lots of time to mine anything you want to keep.

Here ya go!   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTUgViNnI_I

Liam says sorry it's late, but neither one of us saw this thread until just now.

He's currently working on a new, and even more disturbing,  production due out by New Years. It was going to be for Christmas but didn't get finished on time on acount of the cast (Liam) and camera crew (me) have the flu.

Apple Talk / Re: HEY, YOU, IN THE CAR AHEAD OF ME
« on: December 05, 2010, 12:28:02 am »
I share your loathing.

Sadly, two of my friends bought them. New. They said the bank wouldn't loan on any other car at their income level because "PT Cruisers don't lose their value". I smell a racket.

I don't like them, either. I understand where your friends are coming from, though, because I felt intense pressure from lenders to buy a PT Cruiser when I was looking for a new car four years ago. The banks are wrong, though. I did a lot of research before deciding which vehicle to buy and the PT Cruisers just don't hold their value. According to this article:  http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2008/06/pt-cruiser/  Pt Cruisers lose an estimated 63% of their purchase value over the first five years. Admittedly, the article is a couple of years old, but still...

By comparison, Liam and I have a 2007 Mustang GT and it's holding value very well. The dealership it came from has offered to buy it back a couple of times and the car was only down about 22% at the time of the last offer. We're not selling it, though.

Fact: Harbor Freight is probably one of the greatest stores ever known to America, and America doesn't even KNOW IT.

Harbor Freight's one of the best stores anywhere!  I wish we had one around here. :(

Apple Talk / Re: Happy Turkey Day You Fuckin Turkeys!
« on: November 26, 2010, 05:00:42 pm »
I have a fridge full of leftovers.

Turkey, cheesy broccoli stuff, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, razzleberry dressing, and FUCKING GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE. I will have a delicious lunch tomorrow. Om. Nom. Nom.

Oh that's the worst...Undercooked bird, that is. We had 2 of them. The amount of food at GS's aunt's house was record breaking.

Bullshit, I had Thanksgiving today with a Brit, and he seemed to quite enjoy it. Then again, even a modest American meal is 20X superior to English cuisine.

You called it!  Liam loves a nice turkey dinner as much as anyone, but we've had a hellish week and neither one of us has had the time or energy to  shop and cook, so we're planning to celebrate on Sunday, instead.

Liam's new outside kitty, Commander Wingnut, was savaged by dogs and had an emergency tail amputation on Monday. Wingnut's a mess, he's in constant pain, the house cats hate him and want to fight, Wingnut wants to eat the fish, and nobody's getting any sleep around here. To top it all off, I drove to SF to meet my daughter when she flew in from Germany on Weds, and we were stuck in holiday traffic for fuckign ever. Took us 2 1/2 hours to travel from the first 30 miles of the trip home. By that time nobody cared in the least if we ate turkey yesterday or not, so we postponed the whole shebang.
