Aneristic Illusions / Re: Fact check, Plz.

So, to sum up ,for anyone who would care to actually look at facts.

The United States has attacked other Democracies in the past, will probably do so in the future if they disagree with us, and the President has lousy fact checkers and speech writers.  Oversimplification it is, but at least i am not being a pedantic whiney baby.

On another note, the good news is that everyone at the speech probably had no fucking clue about any history that either did not directly involve their country/family or self, so Smiley will get away with his attempt at belaying peoples fears that we would like to have their land for mini-malls.

DUBAI (Al Arabiya)

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said he has documented evidence that the United States is doing what it can to prevent the coming of the Mahdi, the Imam that Muslims believe will be ultimate savior of mankind, press reports said Monday.

"We have documented proof that they [U.S.] believe that a descendant of the prophet of Islam will raise in these parts [Middle East] and he will dry the roots of all injustice in the world," the hard-line president said, addressing an audience of families of those killed during the 1980's war against Iraq.

"They have devised all these plans to prevent the coming of the Hidden Imam because they know that the Iranian nation is the one that will prepare the grounds for his coming and will be the supporters of his rule."

Iranian news website Tabnak said Ahmadinejad further revealed plots by both the East and the West to wipe out the Islamic Republic.

"They have planned to annihilate Iran. This is why all policymakers and analysts believe Iran is the true winner in the Middle East," he went on to proclaim, adding that they were after Iranian oil and other natural resources.

"In Afghanistan, they are caught like an animal in a quagmire. But instead of pulling their troops out to save themselves, they are deploying more soldiers. Even if they stay in Afghanistan for another 50 years they will be forced to leave with disgrace -- because this is a historical experience."

The president said on his last visit to New York he asked officials "Is there not one sane person in your country to tell you these things?"

"They know themselves that they need Iran in the Middle East, but because of their arrogance they do not want to accept this reality. They are nothing without the Iranian nation and all their rhetoric is because they don't want to appear weak," he added.

This is why there should be IQ tests before people are allowed to run for office.

"You can only be THIS stupid to run for public office."

I brought up the actions of Bernanke, Geitnher, Summers and Greenspan in another forum and was smacked in the face by something called Keynesian Economics.  I have no idea who this Keynes guy is or why I am being face smacked by anything that has to do with him, but I don't see how his economics can be called upon to counter the fact that the apostles of de-regulation did alot to run us into the ground and they are not going to be called to the carpet about it.  In fact, the first three have been promoted and Dubya gave the nations highest civilian honor to the old fart.

meh, I wonder why I bother to care at all.  I no longer feel there is any cure for what has been allowed to happen aside from complete collapse.  Don't try to understand politics beyond the fact that its primary gist is that of a pirate, "Take what ya can, give nothin back."

I wouldn't really count Glenn Beck as people really...the man makes a career out of being an asshole.

Being an asshole is one thing, but I had a co-worker tell me that during Thanksgiving his father-in-law was asked a question about politics and the guy actually said he would wait and see what Beck had to say about the issue.

seriously, can we stop the world?  I wanna get off here.  Check please?  Where the fuck is my world ending asteroid with the name wormwood tattooed on its arse?

I used to go to church, sang in the choir and played my harmonica in the praise team.  I have sat there and listened to the claim from the pulpit that by giving our tithe and offering that we would be rewarded seven fold, or "pressed down, shaken together and overflowing."  I kid you not, that was the phrase used.  So the Christians I know have been led to believe, by their sectarian masters, that their worldly  reward is dependent upon their gifts to the church (ie. God).  Thus armed they tend to go out and buy new cars, saw alot of those in the church parking lot, and other things on credit.  None of them seemed to realize that the pastor guy was in realty and a few other business ventures, thus allowing him to not take a salary from the church and for him to even subsidize projects that the church needed that didn't get any offering for.  All they saw was a pious man who worked for the church and drove a hummer.

I saw no reason to create a new thread, but...

THIS JUST IN!

The temperature at the Earths Core is around a MILLION DEGREES!

Al Gore said so, thus it must be true.
CONAN O'BRIEN, HOST: Now, what about ... you talk in the book about geothermal energy...
AL GORE, NOBEL LAUREATE: Yeah, yeah.
O'BRIEN: ...and that is, as I understand it, using the heat that's generated from the core of the earth ...

GORE: Yeah.

O'BRIEN: ...to create energy, and it sounds to me like an evil plan by Lex Luthor to defeat Superman. Can you, can you tell me, is this a viable solution, geothermal energy?

GORE: It definitely is, and it's a relatively new one. People think about geothermal energy - when they think about it at all - in terms of the hot water bubbling up in some places, but two kilometers or so down in most places there are these incredibly hot rocks, 'cause the interior of the earth is extremely hot, several million degrees, and the crust of the earth is hot ...

I got a giggle outta that.

I can't say I'm surprised, after all a leak is a threat to National Security.......  right?

Besides, if they tell us the serious news, no one will know what John and Kate are up to, or or or who got kicked off Dancing with the Stars....  YOU KNOW...  The IMPORTANT news!!!

Kill me now, you bastards.
Just think... it won't be that long before advancements in medical science raise the life expectancy past 85!
You're not even halfway done!
That's why I eat unhealthy food and exercise little.  I keep hoping that the day I get off my ass and try to work out that i will have a massive coronary and drop fucking dead.

I didn't hear about this till I got to work.  I feel bad for the families and the friends of those who were lost to this nutcase.  I feel bad for the nutcases family also, because they will be facing a horrendous amount of media scrutiny.  I feel bad for the military as a whole because the nutcase has set back Islamic/Military relations so much that Middle Easterners in the military should probably get out now as their careers will probably be hamstrung more than they might have been.

What the Squid said...

but I never expected President Obama to accomplish anything wonderful in his first half year, and I am always amazed at how everyone out there seems to think that he should have brought about world peace, cured cancer and helped someones dog deliver puppies.  I think he could have closed Gitmo if he had actually taken time to create a plan which I simply do not think he did.

He really should have turned down the Nobel.  i think he would have looked HUGE to people if he had done so with one of his speeches.

BWAHAHAHAHAH!!!  This guy is a total loon!  Figured as much, but I wanted to see how much weight he carries with anyone.  Luckily it seems like little.  The guy who sent it to me is not much of a conspiracy theorist, but he has bought this guys story hook line and sinker.

In the past the CIA has operated on its own and provided the military with operational data on a need to know basis, so I would not doubt that they were paying someone on Karzais side of things and the money went to him.  But like I have told folks, if you only want to deal with Afghans who have had nothing to do with the opium trade then you are going to be a very lonely person in that country.
