There was some idiot on Hannity's radio show, a few days ago, that actually suggested Cass Sustein would eventually make it a crime to eat meat.  Even if he philosophically thought it was a crime, does anyone in their right mind think he is stupid enough to try to push such a policy through?  OR, that anyone in the Obama administration would be stupid enough to agree to push such a policy through. 

WTF? He's the head of Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. He couldn't do that even if he wanted to.

Actually I have been reading the bill, and while it specifically says that anyone present in the United States illegally will not be covered by the Public Option I don't really see any oversight to make sure that it doesn't happen.  Has anyone else been reading it?  And if so can you direct me to something?

I believe I heard that Congress is looking at addending the bill to have more oversight, which would be a good thing, but I still think this could have been done another way than a public option.

Again, I aint English, so i dunno what the rules are there about religious freedom.  That said however, Muslims exist, they proliferate and they want to come to England so the Brits need to be ready to accept them as neighbors and share the collection plates.  Is this more of an anit-immigration thing or a anti-religion thing though?  I mean I am fairly anti-immigration at this point in my life, not cause i don't want more foreigners, but because I want to put the situation on hold till the government can get some kind of immigration reform in place...yeah...like that's gonna happen.

Its got nothing to do with immigration at all.  In fact, they claim its to do with "extremism" and terrorism....but the Mosque in Harrow is about as liberal as a "Save the whales" meeting, only with better food.

Its really about Muslims being the new Jews for the nutters on the far-right, who have realised anti-Semitism doesn't sell, but Islamophobia is socially acceptable so long as you mumble some shit about extremism (which is totally different from anti-Semites in the 1920s mumbling about the Jewish-Bolshevik conspiracy, because this one is TROO) and about the BNP, the pack of Nazis behind the EDL, realising they can't get much more support without polarising race and religious relations in this country, and wanting the street presence the far-right had in the 70s, where they could intimidate and attack unionists, religious and ethnic minorities and the rest.

Oh for the love of my aunt mary's bloomers!  Must we have a whole new target race? Geez I am so sick of this racial/religious crap that people keep bringing out and touting as some political explanation of why they are so much better than someone else.  Hasn't anyone realized that it only makes them appear insecure and weak?

If we were relevent then there would be no need for us.  We are Discordians, Eris is our main squeeze because she was not considered relevent, she was considered disruptive and outside the norm.  The question should be more along the lines of, "Should we be worried about becoming relevent?"  I mean, to me relevence means that someone recognizes the movement as a movement, and THEY should see us as "Lone Gunmen" so to speak.  If we were a movement we would be a target for disruption and removal.  Sure we hang out on the forum and have a bit of a giggle at the expense of the Thudians, but THEY don't see that as a threat.

Any group that opposes the status quo becomes a threat.  But individuals are ignored for the most part while they quietly rewrite the worlds code to bring some small enlightenment to the ones who can turn their brains on to what the deal is with the unreality of reality.

The only thing that can kill Discordia is success.

Do you mean success, or do you mean popularity? Because I'm not even really sure what success IS, in terms of Discordianism.

My dear Nigel, noone should have a clue what success would mean for Discordianism.  But in the conventional sense I suppose that would mean a church on many a corner in major metropolitan areas where there are a hookas and a circles of pillows instead of pews, and the holy communion is a hotdog sans bun.  Then Mal2 could have an audience with the Pope where he offers him the golden apple of Kalissti, and go tag "Eris Rules" on the wailing wall.

I hated Bush, I don't trust Obama.  I feel that both sides play the victim card when they are on the down side of things so that they get the pity points needed for people to listen to them about how wrong the other side is.  Please note, neither side wants to talk about where they could be wrong, just the other guys.  This is the Machine boys and squirrels, they hold up a piece of kibble for the sheep to cluster to while they bugger their fluffy asses from behind.

I had to keep reading the state over and over.  Kept seeing it as Alabama, Cause all of this sounds like Talladega.

I used to be pretty ambivalent to the gay rights issues, but then I started to see just how much homosexuals are oppressed in Alabama alone.  Basically any place that has a very patriocentric culture, where men have traditionally called the shots, seems more liable to have situations like this.  That also means, of course, the religious right are normally involved but i have no clue what the religious situation is in Lithuania.  The question is not should we be surprised, but what can we do?  We have a platform, we are civil disobedience made incarnate so we could star adding things to promote awareness of the plight of places like California and Lithuania.  Or I could be talking out my ass...either way its just my way of looking at it.
