Okay, I still don't much care for not having a choice.  The reason I do not have health insurance is that I currently cannot afford the crappy coverage that the company I work for offers.  But under the reform I will purchase health insurance or pay an excise tax.  So I end up looking at what will cost me less the tax or the insurance.  I still haven't seen what the public option will look like and I know from experience how Medicare works, and doesn't.  The house shot down a measure that would protect doctors from decreased compensation, a prime reason why many doctors do not take Medicare, so that will probably result in more doctors declining Medicare.  I point that out because if reid doesn't back down from the public option then I only have medicare to look at as a model for government run healthcare.  I do not see the value in buying an insurance policy that is not accepted by many doctors and will not pay for my medications.  I may as well stay uninsured if my doctors and my meds are not covered.  My wife has Medicare and has to pay EXTRA for a supplemental insurance to cover most of her medications.  Again, this does not seem like an economical idea, more like another political fuck you from the government.

So I read this article and was wondering what you lot thought of the general gist that the government run thing is going to end up costing us bad.  I think this guy is pretty much spot on.  I do not have insurance, I would like to have it though, and if the government has a cheap option that helps me I would be willing to participate.  But I do not like the idea that whether I wanted to participate or not I am expected to carry part of the burden.

I am normally not one to be speechless, but everytime I try to phrase some form of response directly to this I end up starting and stopping and stammering.  I may have my reservations about government run health care, but I truly hate Insurance companies.

I was ranting to anyone who would listen that the Iraq war was a major mistake.  I was happy to see Hussein get his, but i knew what the thing was about and I knew what would happen.  So far I haven't been proven worng.  We are still there, trying to help the government legitimize itself without having them look like they are a puppet state of the United States Government.  The Middle East went from hating us to REALLY hating us.  All in all, I really didn't like 2003.

I think the guy that got popped for the drunken threat got seriously screwed over.  But someone shoulda took his keyboard away from him or something.

A. Have the Cajones
B. Have sufficient mental capacity to pull it off

So lemme get this straight though, you get raped and you are considered to have a pre-existing condition and resulting medical and psychological problems would not be covered?  I am gleaning that from the link.  Is that industry wide or just some agencies?  It should be illegal either way, but i am curious as to how fucking evil these yahoos are.

I have, several times, there was no goddamned military coup in that.  There was a world war three and a new government built from scratch.

I always felt that it was implied that the veterans from the war took over the government because of how everything was mismanaged.  But you are correct, it never specifically mentioned a coup.

Thing is I started feeling like the government had read it and gotten the message that veterans would overthrow them when the Dept. of Homeland security issued that memo of theirs.  I still do not see that our military would launch a coup, though I could see them refuse orders to shoot civilians.  The Vets that I work with all seem to think that our guys and gals would refuse such an order.

Talked to a frenchman today (was a visiting professor) about France's healthcare system. He said, "yeah, its great, but its bankrupt" and laughed. Apparently bureaucracy makes shit of even the best system.
