Apple Talk / Re: Plague Diary
« on: April 22, 2020, 05:30:34 am »
I am breaking. A baby bird I tried very hard not to adopt is now in and out of the hospital. Her abusive partner has finally moved out, but I deeply question the long distance couple who she's latched on to as a replacement. She can't use her legs and lives with a useless roommate. It's fucking killing me.

City Council can't get their shit together to approve of rental assistance. I quit my position in the local Our Rev group because I can't deal with their "we can't let the crisis affect the process" bullshit right now.

I am no longer friends with someone I devoted a lot of time and resources to. She decided her comfort was more important than the safety of the community. I have no remorse.

The guy I ran against is making phone calls to seniors and doing delivery runs I send him on. No ego, no posturing. I am not going to forget /that/ either.

Every night is a struggle to convince myself to go to bed instead of wandering the streets. I am carrying too much for too many people.

I am not surprised  :lulz:

I would love to know more about mutual aid groups and what they're up to right now.

For the most part groups are either working with or being run by the usual DSA and anarchist suspects, with a good mix of other Antifa and leftists. Generally the focus has been on getting grocery delivery going for people isolated due to vulnerability or illness (the former who can't risk getting sick, and the latter who can't risk getting others sick), and connecting folks with formal assistance. Some places are more vocal in their support for rent strikes than others. I'm in a weird group that is kinda working with the city, but only in the sense that we are telling them what's what and they're grateful there's an adult in the room. Some groups are letting the city call all the shots, and others can't imagine cooperating with anyone. We're also working to connect wealthier communities with ones in greater need to redistribute resources.

I would take a look on google and facebook for your local area. There may also be posters going up.

To the surprise of utterly no one, I have helium handed my dumb ass into a lead organizer position in the local covid mutual aid group.

Poetry night is Friday 8pm Eastern, ping me for a link.

The antivaxxer I know has it. She's also got asthma and another condition that puts her at higher risk.

She went to the grocery store AGAIN.

Feeling physically better today, gonna see how 2 pm hits me but for now it's a lot better.

Wait, did you catch it? God, best hopes for you and the husband! Serious finger crossing on my end.

I had a thing. There's no tests and the tests that exist are trash, so every sniffle you kinda have to assume. We have at least one confirmed case in the city and something like 57 presumptive ones (with actual health care interaction) so basically between 500 and 5000 people have it and maybe more than that. There was a confirmed case at the casino one if the days the husband was there, so we have a plausible vector. Anyway, my immune system is a boss and I'm staying in to make sure I don't give this to anyone else, whether it's The Plague or just a minor bug that could still chew up resources and threaten elderly folks.

LMNO, get behind the Markey campaign. There's also Progressive Mass which is trying (albeit feebly) to unseat the entrenched assholes on Beacon Hill. It's less sexy than the Federal shit, but we desperately need to clean house.

Protip: every political campaign runs "ride to the polls" efforts. You don't have to vote sober.

Or Kill Me / Re: Ronald Reagan was wrong
« on: March 04, 2020, 10:34:01 pm »
It's a good start but it leaves out the very important concern that "the people" can be dumb, panicky, racist assholes. Remember that "the people" used jury nullification to prevent lynching murderers from facing justice, "the people" compromised that other people only count for 3/5ths, and don't get to vote in any case, "the people" made being gay illegal, and "the people" keep voting against raising taxes to pay for the things they need.

Apple Talk / Re: FUCKING ORANGE EATING CONTEST
« on: March 03, 2020, 12:34:06 am »
Okay, I am genuinely confused. Am I just immune to oranges? Cause I ate a shit ton last time plus pith plus not eating other things and there was none of this "OH NO MY ASSHOLE" "BRB HOSPITALS" going on.

Give me the update. Iím not seeing bad shit this moment, but Iím so isolated that itís hard to tell whatís possibly happening to look for more details.

I will not miss Pete or Klobuchar, personally.

It's bad because they are no longer splitting the centrist vote, while Warren and Sanders are still splitting progressives.
