yes. there's nothing actually wrong with tiki torches besides you seeing 'em a bad context, Tom. if you'd like to launch a thing at me that's great;. I'm not going to address a line of ant ghosts trucking to and fro 'cause they smell pineapple. I don't even know if you have a foreskin friend.

"Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem."

that's awful close to my expulsion: "The government's job isn't to fix problems, the job of government is to maintain them." you can use that if you want, just credit me. but-- I dunno if the mass public are good arbiters of anything. so there is nothing that works. I think it's all a crapshoot.

i would think since inanimate objects are unable to formulate opinions about their own identity, one has not choice but to assume their gender.  The inanimate object not only lacks the sentience to disagree, but it can't even have an opinion about it in the first place.

yeah, you seem to get it. "gender neutral language" doesn't have squat to do with preferred pronouns. seemed like a pretty fair question, how gender neutral language gibes with this gendered inanimate object thing. it seems like it would be a massive issue to me. I guess this is something all the "romances languages" do, and would include Italian and.. I dunno, it's not for me to say. I didn't go to college or school just a head's up.

the "latinx" thing, I guess that actually does start to address the whole thing. I'll probably be less annoyed by it when I see it now.

but yeah maybe it was inappropriate for me to ask about this on a "Discord in Spanish" subforum. please accept my humble apologies, I surely didn't intend to give anyone vaguely articulated "bad vibes"

I went to look at reviews for an episode of season two of Sex Education, a show I'm watching, and I encountered a 50% review which read thusly:

"The second they blatantly left out the 'cool on christ' line from wang chung's 'dance hall days' i began to questions the shows motives... liked season 1 but this show is clearly doin what it can to cater to a specific audience. Even if everything but that was good, id still question the integrity of the filmmakers after such a deliberate emission. It was clearly intentional, and for a show that appears to have good, 'ground breaking' intentions, it made me question their integrity. I was raised a christian but i still just want people to be honest. idc if your religious or atheist, it was as pathetic as any emission I've seen to leave out the line 'we were cool on christ' to not stir the pot..."

I was intrigued by this because... things, etc., whatever.. I'm doing. I searched the lyrics, I searched the song, I searched the bit of the show where the the song is featured. This is what I found. the lyric is actually "cool on craze" (neither reading makes a lot of sense), and the show does cut away immediately before the "cool on craze" line, quite obviously to fit the flow of the scene, this is a common practice on TV shows. and yet we have someone giving the 2nd season of the show a 50% grade based solely on the fact that they "censored" the line "cool on christ", which wasn't the line, and which wasn't censored. this is the world we circumnavigate. this is the world we perambulate.

this notice is telling me it's an old topic: etc., but it's still fresh as crispy bacons, or will be again after the cornovirus:

nowadays anyone who is racist is a Nazi, which was not the case in the 30s becasue we had tons of racist MFers here, and we didn't care about that. the Nazis were active in the 20s and 30s, and Jim Crow, which basically said blacks were inferior to whites, wasn't repealed until the mid 60s. people like to apply this nobility to the past, and in many cases it wasn't there. if America was so huck-a-buck, ho-hum "smash the Nazis" it would've addressed the horrid bullshit within it's borders. it. did. not. Blacks were considered inferior to whites under the eyes of US law decades after Germany was defeated. to address the OP, I don't think that's how it was. sure it should be by mow, but it wasn't then

I don't believe that's actually a thing, although sometimes right-wing morons bring it up as an example of how they're being oppressed.

if you're not aware about it you're a step behind the right-wing morons who at least know of it. I call the person who delivers my dark web drugs as a "carrier", rather than what I did when I was younger, a "mailman". that makes sense to me. on the other hand I'm not going to say "humankind" instead of "mankind" becasue that's not a word

I have a PDF here from NOVA Southeastern University, which advises me to refer to "the common man" as "the average person" or "ordinary people". this kind of thing to me seems technically legit, but I can't be arsed to retrain my language processing.. thing. there's plenty folks who think language has a big role on how we perceive reality, and on the articulation of our societies. a William Burroughs referred to "Language is a virus", and.. even disregarding this perspective, I think it foolish to poo poo the role language plays in a peoples. that said, I, personally, think trying to change what a word means is a most inefficient means of effecting change (for insistence, insisting "racism" means "institutional" or "systemic" racism).

it may not be a top-of-mind, hot button, guaranteed-validation-generating issue, but it's most certainly a thing, one that the right's mocking of doesn't make nonextant. and yes I am new here in that I can view things anew, without the accumulated toxin-baises of someone who has been loitering about the various stratum for some time now. none of this has anything to do with my comment.

RPG Ghetto / Re: Unified Vidya Games thread

I've started playing Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core 'cause I figured out I could emulate it. FF VII was the first RPG I played, and the ads are what got me back into gaming. it'll always be the best becasue it was my first exposure to all the tropes and mechanics, plus it was petty decent otherwise. this kinda feels like busywork, but I think that's what JRPGs are to a large extent. I burnt out on 'em a number of years ago, but there's some crossover between what's a JRPG and what's an "action" JRPG. at any rate it's going to be even more time before I get around to the PS4. I'm sure the 5 will've been released. I like to save money and don't even care what fidelity an album I DL's is in. I mean I don't really care..

Ok so Brian Taylor as show runner could work, he wrote/directed Happy!

I was about to say as much - the second season of Happy! got too gross for me, but the show definitely had it's own distinctive voice which wasn't like anything else on TV really. I think the guy actually paid attention to adapting the IP as a unique entity, and that could play out well. they could do worse at any rate.
