I would probably consider each card description = to one page in typical freelance writing. Depending on the writer and the publisher, that could range anywhere from 10-50 bucks a page.

So $390 would fit well into the low end. Since you're not a highly experienced writer, that's probably not too bad. If the person is serious, that's an extremely reasonable number. Since you're an expert on the subject and since an 'average' page is probably between 300 - 600 words (depending on formatting etc), you could probably ask for more.

How long did it take you to create the sample? You could look at it from an hourly perspective as well. I'd recommend a minimum somewhere between $20 - $30 per hour if you go that route.

Good point.

In the beginning, she sent me a template and it had some other sections like combined card meanings that I filled in, which she hadn't told me were done already at that point. (Didn't count that when I totted up the 900 words), So the amount of time that took is moot here. But I can do another one today with just the parts in the OP and time it. Thanks!  :)

You know, if you can write content for an app like that with card meanings there's probably a good chance that you can write a book as well.

You should do that.

Alty, I still suck. No way I'm inspired enough to bang out things like Nigel or Roger or anybody like that.

But yeah, I can write about this. Woohoo!
