Villager and I got invited to a wedding at the end of July in Chicago. We're probably going to go on a Thursday and come back on that Sunday (the wedding is on a Saturday). So, that gives us the Friday to look around Chicago. Any of you spags know some weird/cool shit to look at, great places to eat, what kind of local beer to try?

I'll echo ech too.  The Museum of Science and Industry is pretty great.  Also the Field Museum is wonderful.  The difference is are you in the mood for interactivity or old and ancient things.

That looks quite good. I didn't know there was a ritual to it, though I suppose every culture has theirs. I haven't had much Russian food either. Last time I had it, I was still living in Brookline (has a lot of Russians).

If you like the blues, go check out B.L.U.E.S. at 2519 North Halstead.  I doubt you will regret it.

And if you like eating, I would check out the Chicago Chophouse... I don't recall the address offhand, but it should be in the phone book or something.  I tmade me say "ooh la la" more than once.

Chophouse looks amazing but it seems to be a bit pricey. I might be able to. I should probably estimate how much I'm likely to bring with me.

I do like the blues.

Yeah, it is a little pricey... I wasn't sure how much you had to play with.  My priorities are generally food... and then music.  But, if I can get both together: bully.

Food's a flexible priority. I'm not sure how much I'll have to play with either. Airfare, hotel and gift for the couple are a given. However, so is school and books (I'll be paying out of pocket for summer classes and partially out of pocket for fall semester). It would be nice, however, to take Villager some place higher end.

You might like Gino's I think. It's some of the best Chicago style pizza ever made. I specifically recommend the original location on Lincoln Ave. It's all tagged up with little notes and drawings on every surface that the customers have been encouraged to leave for decades. It's awesome!

My favorite place in Chicago is Lou Malnati's Pizzaria. There are a bunch of locations, I prefer the full restaurant and bar locations.
