Well, I've taken one more step towards office-drone-hood:  I'm going to participate in a March Madness bracket.

Mind you, I know nothing about basketball.

So, it's gonna be coin flips, all the way down.

CAN HE DO BETTER THAN THE STATISTICAL AVERAGE!?
I'd put money on "Yes". I assume there's some people who take it all very seriously who will get a little upset about this. I'd suggest making your method of selection as public as possible to increase the potential shame that can be later inflicted.

I was 1 game off from winning an office bracket with zero previous basketball experience. Let your penis guide you.

Without at least weighting by seeds, I'm guessing no. Even people who don't otherwise know anything about the teams tend to look at a 1 vs 16 match-up and pick the 1 seed (which has, historically, never proven incorrect).

Well, I've taken one more step towards office-drone-hood: (...)
Gah, me too.
I took work home  :crankey:
Oh well, at least i am getting the overtime paid.
You know what I'm doing?
Making a pretty pretty schedule for some project.
You know why i am doing that at home?
Because the bossman got 'worried' about me getting all the work done: I was following his orders to make this schedule instead of doing my real job.

I... I... Oh goddes, I think my collar is changing colour!  IT IS TURNING WHITE! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I swear to god.

I just worked through a relatively lengthy problem with constant interruptions and then when I finally finished it and hit enter I'd been logged off due to inactivity

New "job". Again. At a bookstore.
"Job", because they let me work there, and the gubbmint pays me, to get work experience, and a foot inside the door. Which is a good thing.
This was how I came to work at the previous place too, only when they'd had me there for a year, they "couldn't afford" to actually hire me.

Working in a bookstore can be cool! I would do it if I could stand to work with customers without killing them all.

Fuck any company that will let you do work they can't afford to pay you for. Fuck any government that thinks this is acceptable. Only real plus I ever found was to get the "new boss" to agree to give you a reference for having worked there, since your last period of employment. This can be handy for erasing long periods of unemployment from your CV.

That, and a possibility of actually getting work there after three months is what makes it all right.

Pæs

Yeah, when I was doing that unemployment thing I learned a fair bit about how popular government-sponsored workforces are.

SORRY BRO, EVERYONE WHO WORKS HERE IS PAID BY THE GOVERNMENT. WORKS OUT SUPER CHEAP FOR ME.

Cain

Workfare is a hell of a scam.  I'd put it up there with prison labour in terms of coercion/profits/government unwillingness to do anything about.
