Chapter 6 to Discuss and Edit
Eris is not the kind of Goddess you pray to by the way. Solve your problems yourself. Don’t call Eris a mother: she has eyes on the back of her head, better not catch her in a snit. She’s always there, very often indifferent. (She's just not that into you) Quoth the prophet Tupac Shakur "Won't be no bullshit, no ass-kissin This bitch'll have ya wakin up with all your cash missin"
Original:
The spirit of the valley never dies. It is called the mystical female. The door of the mystical female is the root of heaven and earth. It seems to be continuously within us. Use it, and it will never fail.
So, "mystical female" seems to be a synonym for "Tao", right? I suppose it would be proper to bring Eris into this. Maybe something like...
Chaos is too large to be named, but we did it anyway; we call it Eris.
From there, we can say a few things about her.
Because of that, we say She is all things, Possible and Impossible. If you can see Her inside yourself, You can make something out of nothing.

I kind of like certain parts of the original. We've ascribed a few human traits to eris which are absent elsewhere in the CTC... I'm going to try a cut-up of both versions:
Chaos is too large to be named, but we did it anyway; we call it Eris. If you can see Her inside yourself, You can make something out of nothing. Eris is not the kind of Goddess you pray to by the way. Solve your problems yourself. She’s always there, She's just not that into you. Don’t call Eris a mother. she has eyes on the back of her head. Quoth the sage Tupac: "Won't be no bullshit, no ass-kissin This bitch'll have ya wakin up with all your cash missin"

My only qualm is the "she's just not that into you", but only because of the crappy Jen Aniston movie/awful self-help book.

Oh good call. I had forgotten that it's a cultural reference.
How about "she's just busy washing her hair or something."
or "she's too busy to answer the phone."
or something ot that effect. She hears your prayers, she just doesn't think it's worth her time to help you out. Unless it's funny.
