Did I mention Rendezvous With Ragnarok already?

The one with the paranormal investgator, and the jizz stealing aliens, and the evil christian robot?

That tired old plot again??

I love those Alan Resnick shorts.

Perhaps Synecdoche NY? Thatís a little whacky. Iím sure I have a ton of others, but brain is not cooperating at the moment.

My understanding of libertarianism is entirely based on a half-remembered readthrough of Atlas Shrugged.

It was a sort of straw-army argument that the only defense against an absurd and obviously fictional caricature of socialism is unfettered capitalism, and that we should trust these capitalists to do what is best.

Also, Rand had some pretty silly notions about how technology is developed, and about what a self-made man could actually accomplish.  And her writing was garbage.

It's bizarre that this book could influence anyone as anything more than a cautionary example of bad writing, but I suppose the message, "You're special and important and you don't need anyone else so you should be allowed to do whatever you want" has an appeal for some.

But, I read it many years ago, so some of the details may have gotten distorted.

I more or less enjoyed the Fountainhead, though there is a lot to laugh at in that book. On the other hand, I only ever made it a little leas than halfway through, despite 2 attempts. It was just boring. And stupid. But mostly boring.

Someone in r/occult today was asking what is the best way to get the attention of Eris. So, weíre likely all doomed.

Did they say why?  What were they trying to do?  Whatever the reason, there's usually a less dangerous solution than getting a chaos goddess involved.

Before summoning Eris, they should be encouraged to first try some of the safer alternatives, like going to a job interview with pasta* down their pants, riding a walrus down the freeway during rush hour, or setting off firecrackers at an airport security checkpoint.

*Al dente.  With sauce.

I donít ask why some guys want to smash their testicles with a hammer, and I donít ask about shit like this either.

Throw a party; don't invite her.

Definitely.

Slaughterhouse-Five.

'Nuff said.
Only read that over the summer gone, it's rare that the sci-fi allegory zoo story switches interchangeably between the real world historical prison camp. The happy sci-fi dream zoo where he is there with his (underage) pin up girl really gave weight to the camp and Dresden.

Was Montana Wildhack underage?

He did a fair amount of racist propaganda during WWII, I believe he is on record after the fact regretting it, but my memory has become unreliable.

EDIT: Perfect example LMNO found.

No updates on the SOTA???

It was a surprisingly well-delivered speech that said the same old shit.  Pelosi sat behind him pulling faces.

Vague reports I saw said he seemed to go back and forth a lot. Accurate?

I agree with you both, I think. Some of Lovecraft does fall under racist racist for me, but the majority falls into that general area LMNO talks about. I agree with not rejecting out of hand, but I find it easier to swallow if the artist acknowledges it and attempts to change. Seuss is an example of that. I think Lovecraft might have become such an artist, unfortunately he died shortly after his views started to evolve. It might have been interesting to see how his writing changed.

And I fully agree with Howl above. Putting anything black on your face is not blackface. Thatís not to say Travers might have held racist views, but if so, these ainít them.
