Apple Talk / Re: Open Bar: Drinks are on the Supreme Court

So, the left-wing screeching about the dems has reached new levels on social media.  Apparently, if you vote to stop the redneck trash in the GOP, you are literally the next Hitler.

Do your part, America.  Shove a progressive down a manhole today.

Whatís this now?

I just had - and I'm not kidding, here - some raging berner tell me that he isn't voting this year because Bernie never even got a chance to run for the ticket.

I mean, nobody did.  IT'S NOT A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION YEAR.

I hate everyone.  I hate everyone and I demand a return of the Spanish flu.

I wish people would stop ruining the term "progressive".  I mean, it's getting to be the same reaction when I tell people I'm a Discordian -- there are far too many assholes who don't get it, giving it a bad name.

Yeah Iíve stopped telling people Iím from Earth. Everyone is giving me a bad name.

Both.

I live in the center of the universe.
So, probably Toronto, but possibly Montreal or Vancouver.

Unless we go all cosmological and say that everywhere is the centre of the universe.

Yes.

what part of Canada are you in?

I'm from the flat, uninhabitable empty part.  Saskatoon.

Are you just curious, or should I release the hounds and arm the point-defences?

Both.

I live in the center of the universe.

Canada has parts?

Sure, the cold part, the really cold part, the empty part, the French part, and the Hamilton part.

Narrator:  "But that was only two parts."

I seem to recall some scandals in Canada too.

The Sixties Scoop, and before that, the residential school system.

The residential school system removed aboriginal children from their families and placed them in compulsory boarding schools (most of them Catholic), in an attempt to assimilate them into Canadian culture.  At least 3000 deaths are attributed to poor conditions in these schools.

With the Sixties Scoop, the children were placed in foster homes or up for adoption, rather than being placed in boarding schools.

I remember these, the kids were forced to take on catholic names, forget about their culture and in some cases were handed to catholic couples and told to forget their parents.

And in many cases forbidden from speaking their native languages.

Apple Talk / Re: Ill-considered drama #1 of hopefully 1.

I understand that people often have the best intentions when they try to get people to make up, however itís important to remember peopleís boundaries are important. I donít know what the drama was on FB which instigated the OP, but itís not something people should have to say. If someone doesnít want to make up, thatís their right.

I havenít spoken with Kai in some time, and donít recall really why we stopped, but we had some good times in the past. I met her when she came to Toronto one time and we had fun. I never interacted with Charley much, so canít say much there.

So I went to Nashville seeking The American Dream and found out itís Disney Land for white bridal parties bouncing in the back of a school bus with the roof cut off to the same Shania Twain song over and over and over again.

I felt like I was in a play by Sartre.

Maybe that is the American Dream?

Itís smacking of an ďinformed attributeĒ at this point.
