nice try corny....but there is just no way on earth that cornholio would be writing poetry. about as likely as him listening to 'winger'.

and i would like to add that this is the first work of fiction to utilize Scrids.....for too long, the Scrid has been ignored in contemporary literature and i for one, would like to congratulate LMNO on breaching this last of literary taboos.

ask for more Scrid-centric fiction at your local bookstore now.

I wasn't making that up. That's been a commonly used slang term since I was a kid.

for real? then what were your childhood memories doing in my subconscious? and unauthorized i might add.

i found 'scrod' in the dictionary (Oxford) - it's a young haddock or cod. 19thc US usage.

"Scrid" is Scottish slang for a unit of currency, similar to our "buck".

really? i didn't know. i mean, in the UK we've got 'quid'....but i've never heard of 'scrid'....but then i'm not from scotland.

if you visit the bar, scrid is the game that me & LMNO are playing in our new socks.

1. n. A highly literate squid.
2. v. The act of sliding on a freshly-waxed kitchen floor in new socks.

the opening salvo in the 'what is a scrid?' competition has been fired!

i heard this word in a dream last night. if possible, please identify....failing that, create amusing & original definition.

i would be really pleased if we can convince other people that this word is in common usage and that they're simply not very 'with it' for not knowing.

maybe 6 months from now, someone will claim to have invented it or cite some preposterous etymology.

Or Kill Me / I can't read Sermon 15/ rant #88

I've never claimed to be in the rant business, although if you want to find one of the occasional pieces of crap I think might be amusing enough to post, you could probably just dig back through the older threads in this forum.

edit: since ever rant I've ever seen posted on this board by anyone (including me) has been more or less all the same rant, I try to put them out there very infrequently in the hopes that maybe no one will notice that I've just been cribbing from myself the whole time.

Mr Sainthood? Your lawyer called. He's filing a suit against you for self-plagarism

in AmeriCo(tm), it refers to a girl who's got serious ass and titties.

presumably, our brick shithouses were more attractive than yours, although probably less useful in an architectural sense.

well stone me. don't you just love cultural differences? bit like the whole fanny/fag translation errors to & from US English.

Several obervations were mad, and questions were asked:

1.  I've always wondered:  what does "built like a brick shithouse" mean?

seeing as no one tackled this pressing issue: in the UK people of stocky, muscular proportions (eg: nightclub bouncers) are sometimes referred to as being 'built like a brick shithouse'.

presumably in ye olde england, the shithouse was rather heftily constructed.
