I am here to talk about ODD, Oppositional Defiance Disorder (not to be confused with the peculiar malady afflicting Episkopi called ?¨Occupational Discordian Disorder?Æ), the insidious new diagnosis being recommended by the A.P.A., the American Psycho-something Association (not to be confused with the ?¨Anarchistic Psychosis Association?Æ). They have recommended this diagnosis for anyone who has the troubling psychological condition, commonly known as ?´awareness??, which makes the victim refuse to accept authority at face value. Some of the victims even go so far as to refuse to blindly obey authority. What gives?

Before you run off going apeshittedly paranoid, just look at the Damned Thing for a second. ODD? Did these gray and DUMB psychiatrists not realize that Eris had taken over their minds to give us such an acronym? ODD? Are you ODD? If so, you may have Oppositional Defiance Disorder. If you are ODD, they have drugs, video games, and television to help you get over it. (Unfortunately, the APA doesn??t recommend fetish toys.) ODD? Do these small minds not realize that they may have been responsible for the greatest mindfuck ever? And they did it all on their own?ñso they think.

I know you want to view this new psychiatric diagnosis as one more symptom of a society that has become too tipsy on the precepts of order. And you are possibly right. But that said, look at it as the overt infiltration of Eris into the minds of DUMB. Because ODD is a potent cure for the malady, commonly known as ?´common sense??, called DUMB. ODD is what you get and what you become after Eris comes along and slaps the crap from your minds and unclogs your pipes so that your mind starts working. I don??t know why She does it. Perhaps it is entertaining for Her. Perhaps we do it to ourselves and blame Her.

I would hope that you are all ODD. Possibly what the APA was aiming for was really ?´Opposition to DUMB and DOOM??? Possibly. But I say that??s what they really mean anyway. I say that to be ODD is an honor we can bestow on one another, much like the rest of our silly titles?ñsuch as KSC, KNS, KHS, KSB and so on. Do you wish to become ODD? Do you want a mindfucking lobODDomy? Moses on a hairy tree! If they keep this up, the Discordian Society will have overtly taken over the whole planet, without even trying, in just a few years. And that may or may not be what Eris wants.

You can be the mistresses and masters of ODD! Great fnordian pipe bearers of Bob! How many more cracks in the damn metaparadigm of DUMB do we need before we rush in with sledgehammers to crush the filthy thing? ODD indeed. That said, I am proudly ODD! But not too loudly ODD because I??m not stupid and I do like being alive. Are you all with me? ?ñhow stupid. Are you against me? ?ñhow boring. Are you ODD?

Of course we all know what ODD really stands for, don??t we? (the Order of Disobedient Discordians, a subversive wing of the Purple Monkey Mafia which infiltrates Christian Fundamentalist churches with flyers and propaganda pointing out and elucidating various difficult aspects of the scriptures?ñI??ll have you know.) If you don??t wish to agree with the original meaning of ODD, form your own damned ODD then. I will not be responsible either way. Rama-lama-wing-nut-hare-fricken-motor-bike!

Keep in mind that the APA??s ODD and our ODD are no coincidence. Eris has definitely been working hard in the minds of DUMB. The only question is who will unravel whom first. Well?ñnever mind that. We know that we have thoroughly unraveled ourselves and revel in the unraveling. So there. I am ODD. You are ODD. The whole world is ODD.
