Because my friends, that is exactly what is happening.  It is nauseating to see displayed daily what tops the agenda for the majority.  For the past few weeks the Evening News has started with Iraq and ended with the Anna Nicole Cadaver sweepstakes along with the daily ,ÄúWhat past-it-pop-princess is wigging out now?,Äù report.

It,Äôs enough to make you just want to kill your TV with an RPG.  And then deliver a package of C4 to your local affiliates, just so they,Äôll stop broadcasting the shit.  Of course, I know what you are saying, just turn it off.  Well, no shit Sherlock.  That,Äôs not the point.

The TV might as well be a fucking mirror for ourselves.  It is only showing us what we are.  It is constantly reminding us of the shortcomings and how many of them are walking this hunk of rock.  When did the lives of so many become so empty that they have to fill it with the fallout from others lives?  Why are so many so vapid that they must live vicariously through others?  To me, it,Äôs not even funny.  I know how much mediocrity exists in this mortality.  I am constantly doing my best to keep it out of my sight and out of my home.  Why can,Äôt we just kill celebrity and infamy and let it fester in obscurity?

There are too many walking voids without imagination in this world.  It,Äôs all autopilot scavenging.  Devouring whatever is most easily available to satiate the hunger for something.  Escaping from one horrible existence to another,Äôs.  Wanting, so badly, to get out of one,Äôs skin, even if it means slipping into the decay of someone else,Äôs.  Not a thought to foraging for their own freedom.  Not a though to seeking out something that can bring them personal fulfillment, created from their own will and mind.  Not a single consideration to escaping the crass current for the jet stream of self-worth.

I don,Äôt know the answer.  I don,Äôt know that anyone knows the answer.  I don,Äôt know that there even IS an answer.  All I know is there are days I seriously just want to get as far away from all of this as I can.  I imagine there has to be some prime real estate in Greenland.

I think you are missing the point.  What I'm talking about has nothing to do with saving dolphins or world peace.  I'm talking about individuals and the emptiness that consumes them to the point that they need to consume emptiness.  And how the collective of those individuals creates a nauseating culture of crap.  To me, it isn't funny.  Have you seen any of the shit that is going on with the Anna Nicole deal?  Oh sure, it's funny at first.  Then it is just sickingly sad.  A bunch of fucktards fighting over a dead broad's body like they give a shit about the person who had inhabited the body.  And then you think about how many more empties are glued to the tube to get the latest headlines, like their world hinges on it. 

I don't want utopia.  It just would be nice if just a few more people could take up ukele instead of finding fulfillment in this bullshit.

That's kinda where I was going with the reply. Laugh at the news because it really is what the slugs want to watch. For them tv and nacho's are as good as it gets. Laugh because you're not like them. I agree more cool people would be cool but I'm kinda resigned to the fact that most people will prolly remain assholes. Eh, but I don't judge my self-worth based on other people.  Again, one of the points of my rant.  Sure, some people get plain and simple entertainment out of the tabloidism of the Evening News and the cable news stations.  But, others get so caught up in the shit because it makes them feel better, for some reason I can't identify with. 

And it's all well and good to say "fuck 'em" but it isn't always that simple.  Refer to the "Family" thread of the BIP section for more....

Yeah family is a tough one. You tend to find yourself caring about those people for no good reason. Unconditional they call it. Point you make tho is general population. Some people are wracking their brains trying to find a way of waking them all up at the same time. Good luck to them I say (and I really mean it) Me, I tried for years to think of something and gave it up as a lost cause, my brain just aint up to the task. Settle for helping as many people as I can to see through the bullshit. Prolly wont turn out to be a big number, may just as likely turn out to be a fat 0. I aint hung up about that tho. Getting hung up on enlightening the world didn't really work out for me.
