So, which one came first, the stupid or the ads?

I recently started watching a little TV lately when my computer blew up (literally, the power supply smoked).  It took me a few days to figure out what all the channels did.  I don't understand why half the stuff is on there.  The last meme I remembered seeing was MTV's retarded "the revolution will be televised" warning.  That's when I shut the fucking thing off.  When was that?  '96?  '98?  It's been so long I don't remember.

They advertised The Church of the SubGenius for a short period back then.

It wasn't edgy enough, though, and was dumped in favor of "Road Rules".

Stang should have known that would happen.

Yeah, I saw the commercial.

It WAS MTV, if anything else was put it would probably go completely past them.

Stang wrote a good rant for that, because a bunch of bobbies started complaining that he'd "sold out".

thanks, and while reading the rest of the rant i also found the answer to the first question:

Quote from: rantBy the way, we didn't `place an ad' on MTV. They do these things called "art breaks" where they give weirdos a pittance to do `artful' one-minute thangs. THEY PAID US TO MAKE A COMMERCIAL ABOUT OURSELVES AND THEY RUN IT FOR FREE. In other words we got the Conspiracy to PAY US to BITE ITS HAND while it FED US.

I get a little fucked off when people forget that The Machine is a tool. A device. Like any tool it can be used for good or evil.

Speaking of Tool(s), they wrote a strangely appropriate song that (oddly enough) never got airplay called "Hooker with a Penis".

Not sure I agree with the "good or evil" bit, there.  I'm not convinced that such things exist.  Apparent conflicts between good and evil are only sicknesses of the mind.  But you are right in that the Machine is a tool.

Good and evil, unfortunately, is democratically decided. Everybody knows spin pwnt the shit out of democracy years ago. So now the bad guys are telling us what's good and what's evil.

Truth is everything is evil. Kill it all!
