My vote is if it is feasible (read legal) to continue with BIP, we continue with BIP.

If not, I like The Prison.

To me, the cell and bar metaphors are important, especially when conveying the message to new folks.  The better they are able to visualize this stuff, the more likely they are to get it.

To a dillettante, it would appear hackneyed and obvious.

Our likeliest candidates are such.

I would disagree with "the Prison" just because it seems to bear no uniqueness to any other mind-expanding reality trip.

I also feel that Black Iron Prison is the best name for it.

Trench warfare is known only as major part of one war, and was only used in a handful of them.  Bunkers have had a much longer life in warfare, and also retain the restricted feel.  If we are going the way of fortifications, how about The Pentagon, or less so, The Fortress?    That last one is getting really far away from the feel of it, though.

This one may be kinda out there, but my favorite song by Peter Gabriel is The Tower That Ate People, featuring, amongst other fun shit, the lines "the more we are protected, the more we're trapped within" although I usually think of those lyrics when considering the state of my once great nation.

Not bad.

i dunno, by leaving out "black" it suddenly sounds even more dark/bad.

i agree that the prison metaphore is a strong one, so we need something along the lines of

THE ______ PRISON

or, maybe we could go with that, THE *blank* PRISON, make sure we release some audio where ______ is bleeped out

or will people then just think it actually says THE FUCK PRISON ? which would sort of draw attention away from our pretty metaphore, i'm afraid

one more idea

- let's keep "Black Iron Prison" for the pamphlets/stuff we've written so far
- the magazine is gonna be a different name of course
- but should we rename this subforum?

a subforum-name doesn't need to be terribly catchy, mostly descriptive.

(in fact that's one thing i really dislike about a lot of fora--that they have these "cozy" names for subfora like "the padded room", "the cellar" etc leaving it up to the visitor to read the tiny font below the forum name that describes in a few sentences what the subforum is actually about and whether or not you can post poetry. PD.com isn't half-bad with the subforum names compared to what some fora come up with, though)

THE *blank* PRISON

The Blank Prison sounds strangely appealing.  I would look at a magazine with that name just to figure out what the fuck it is about.

Whatever it be, Black Iron Prison has to go.

Anyone that missed me saying this before: I asked a buddy if he liked the BIP section of the forum and he said, "Oh, the Phillip K. Dick stuff."

Blank Internal Prison if you wanna keep BIP's initials.
