this costume reminds me of the Secret Chiefs 3 - Hurqalya: Second Grand Constitution and Bylaws album.

which is badass in many ways.

BADGE OF HONOR

Holy shit someone else who's heard of Secret Chiefs 3!

Also great work Suu, you make me half want to learn how to sew and half swear to never.
The Jerk On Bike rolled his eyes and tossed the waffle back over his shoulder--before it struck the ground, a stout, disconcertingly monkey-like dog sprang into the air and snatched it, and began to masticate it--literally--for the sound it made was like a homonculus squatting on the floor muttering "masticate masticate masticate".

Suu...those costumes are GREAT.  :mittens: on top of mittens.  Awesome job, and brava!

I made Leln's dress too...fyi...because I didn't have enough stuff to do.

In fact, Richter, Leln, Herbert, and myself were walking advertisements for my skillz.

So I picked up this book called the Subversive Seamster, which is a DIY how-to book on basically hitting thrift stores and going couture with what you get. So I decided to give a couple of the projects a shot for a new Easter outfit!

Here is my haul...

I do this shit for science.

Expect a report later in the day. I have some drawing to do prior to that.

Here's the first of my DIY designs: a butchered football jersey into a skirt and shrug. The skirt is also constructed of 2 dress slips, and the black slip on the right side has a high slit, so I pleated the shell, and then tacked on a tie from excess fabric of the pink slip to give it more character.

I doubt I'll ever wear the shrug. I just wanted to be silly.

I do declare, I believe I just had myself a stroke of costumin' genius for this here little upcomin' gathering in Boston. Oh my, I think I'm feelin' the vapours...

fifty-two fuckin consecutive pages of win.

Thank you.

I don't offer any kind of competition, but my "I can make that" urge is exercised well enough to recognize the effort and skill you have in obvious abundance.  I couldn't tell from your "looking fat" shot on the stairs if you actually did cry a little, but I almost did.  Dahling, chjew looook MAHVelous, and the costume is *brilliant* as well.  You earned your cry, happy tears only.

I put in a couple months of work preparing the two costumes for my son and I to wear to the local anime convention.  Your banquet table for cutting is nice, but I already have one of those.  I want to know where you get your apprentices.  Or at least the singing mice.....

oooooohhh... I can feel the make coming on me again.  You've inspired me.  P'raps I'll assault you all and insult myself with some pictures of the results.

Awesome work, Suu, but, of course, you already knew that.

Suu

Thanks!

We have quite a few seamstresses here on the board, so if you want to post pictures of your work it will be pretty well accepted! No need to get embarrassed.

As you can see from the above picture, right now I'm working on a Steampunk costume, almost entirely out of found objects (and uh...some accouterments I spent $75 on in Michaels yesterday...) and clothing I already have. I do need a hat though. I must get a hat...

Ok, for reals... what kind of hat, and what's your hat size?
