To the OP - loved the point about celebrities, but so far I've never been convinced with ideas of people 'governing themselves'. Of course I dont know exactly what you meant by that, but if its anarchy I know I sure as hell dont want that, not only because after a period of chaos some dominating tit or other would rise to the top again and we'd be on the long road back to square 1.

Think of it more in terms of the "Notice of Compulsory Enlightenment" flyer:  You can agree with a point of view, a rule, a law, or even have an opinion about which fast food restaurant is best, but not because any sort of Authority told you so.
