Sometimes, depends on the change.  I've watched my kids handle quite a bit--jail/prison of their gf, near-death of their dad, etc.

But intentionally inflicting that for your own self-preservation takes a LOT.  For me anyway.

LMNO

I wasn't talking about abandoning your kids...  I was talking about changing your life, with them still in it.

Jenne

Neither was I.  You don't have to abandon them in order to harm them, you know.

LMNO

Wait, what are we talking about here?

If a person feels like they're wasting their lives in a pit of domesticity, then they should do something about it.  Whether it's taking a pinting class, or meditating at a Buddhist temple, or joining a punk rock band, they should just get out there.  They don't have to give up on the kids, or even the housework.  But they should give themselves something that imparts a different meaning in their lives.

How does that harm one's kids?

Jenne

Eh, would that it were that simple and worked so apparently well each time.

LMNO

Note that I never said it was easy...

Jenne

Simple and well = easy now?

Well, shit.

LMNO

I think I've finally lost track of the conversation.

For the record I wasn't really talking about housewives.

Yeah, I sort of devolved it into that because that was my own story.

But it's applicable universally, I suppose.  Sorry for the tanget.

You are a housewife. Every day you shop, you chop, you cook, you sweep, vacuum, wash, wax, dry, fold, tidy, discard. You bandage scraped knees, settle fights, make judgment calls. You do the best you can. You do what you can to earn your keep. And when your husband comes home, he sees only what you didn't do, or what you didn't do right.

Now imagine that instead of a house, it's your life.

And imagine that instead of a husband, it's you.

um, i think ur doin it wrong.
